Just like that, one month is down in our quickening spiral towards the inevitable end of the world in 2012. According to the Mayans, you're running out of time to see good, high-quality comedy, so make this week count before it's too late.
If you've got a show in the future that you'd like to see listed here, email me and we'll try to work something out. A-WINK!
Ghostbuster / Groundhog Day, 7:30pm New Beverly Cinema. While not exactly a ‘live’ show, there’s nothing better than a Bill Murray double-bill at the New Beverly Cinema.
Sad People Talking, 8p Royal/T. It’s a big week for comedy at this new show in Culver City, with Josh Fadem hosting, plus Andy Kindler, Kumail Nanjiani, Matt Braunger and a whole lot more great people.
The Dork Forest, 8p Nerdist Theater. Jackie Kashian’s popular dork podcast welcomes Andy Kindler to talk comic books and comedy.
Comedy Rocks, 10p Hollywood Improv. Chris Porter and Anthony Jeselnik lead the way for a great night of stand up in the Main Room.
Therapy, 8:30p Blue Monkey Lounge. Marc Maron and Eddie Pepitone help to welcome in the first Therapy show of the new year.
Frolic!, 9p The Far Bar. Brent Weinbach, Ali Wong, Tommy Johnagin and others make this downtown comedy hotspot a great place to be.
Guys with Feelings, 8p Comedy Central Stage. Jason Nash and the gang are putting together a special live version of the popular long-running podcast.
Hebrew School Horror, 8p Westside Comedy Theater. Aysha Wax decided to figure her life out by becoming a Hebrew school teacher. Big mistake.
Fairy Tale Theatre, 18 & Over, 8p The Matrix Theatre. It’s an adult-sized twist on classic children’s fairy tales, yet for still done with puppets. If that doesn’t melt your psyche, nothing will.
Bob Saget, 10p Brea Improv. Saget is doing a truncated weekend in Brea, so make it out while you can.
Hand Shucked, 8p Moving Arts Theater. Rob O’Reilly’s show has Matt Kirshen, Brian Kiley, Jason Nash and a bunch of other great stand ups.
Harvard Sailing Team, 10p Westside Comedy Theatre. Arguably the best sketch team in New York City is out for a couple of shows on the Left Coast. These internet sensations are not a group you want to miss.
Brett Gelman, 8pUCB. Gelman has the stage to himself for a night of stand up.
Top Story Weekly, 9p iO West. It’s sketch comedy based on the wild week that was.
