TV Junkie: 'Justified' Season 3 Premiere - Interviews!

Starting tonight Tuesdays get really complicated with a surplus of great dramas at 10pm: "Justified," "SouthLAnd," "Parenthood," and "White Collar." Rising to the top of this list are "Justified" and "SouthLAnd," both having their season premieres tonight and they are both excellent. Thankfully FX and TNT immediately rerun the shows so you have a chance to watch them immediately back-to-back, and I love both shows. Other than seeing the excellent premiere of "SouthLAnd" I don't have too much insight as to what's going on with the season but have no fear, recent additions Lucy Liu and Lou Diamond Phillips will totally blow you away. I did have an interview with Michael Cudlitz that got postponed to infinity so I have no voice from inside the show to relate to you.

I did, however, go to the incredible season premiere event for "Justified" held last Tuesday at the Directors Guild of America offices. I got interviews with every cast member who showed up: Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins, Joelle Carter, Stephen Root, Natalie Zea, Neal McDonough, Nick Searcy, Mykelti Williamson, David Meunier, and Raymond J. Barry. I'd like to take credit for some excellent name-brand bourbon making it onto the show. In my interview with David Meunier we ended up talking about Black Maple Hill being stocked in his bar on the show - at last year's TCAs I spoke to series star and executive producer Timothy Olyphant about Black Maple Hill and printed it right here on LAist. Small victories my friends.

"Justified" starts in reset mode with US Marshall Raylan Givens recovering from a gunshot wound, getting reacquainted with his now-pregnant ex-wife, Winona, and an adversary, Boyd Crowder, now strengthened by his own love interest, Ava. A potential super-villain appears in Harlan County but I don't want to spoil the show for you. I can confirm the show is a roller coaster from the premiere through the four episodes sent to me. Definitely watch our interviews with cast-members of this Peabody-winning show.

Eddie Brill who books comics for David Letterman's TV show and he was fired this morning for speaking to the press without clearance from the production company. If you follow my twitter feed, @TheTVJunkie, you would have seen that we had a leak about the firing as of last night. There were many ways that Brill and Letterman could have defused the situation but instead Brill escalated it by ranting about the article on at least one other website. I don't cast doubt on the idea that Brill is anything but a nice guy but he blew it on this one.
