New Year's Weekend Edition

Chelsea Handler & Co. come to the late night rescue (as they have for the past 2 weeks) with a new episode of "After Lately" this Sunday at 11pm

New Year's weekend is full of marathons, this time they include (on Saturday) "The Twilight Zone" (Syfy), "Archer" (FX), "The Walking Dead" (AMC), "Psych" (USA), and on Sunday "Absolutely Fabulous" (BBC America), and "Shameless" (Showtime).

This weekend we've got some things to look forward to, new episodes of "The Life & Times of Tim," "Hell On Wheels," and the Travel Channel has a Johnny Jet special on Sunday at 9pm.

It really has to be noted that Chelsea Handler was very smart in serving late night viewers with new episodes of "Chelsea Lately" this week, including tonight, as well as a brand new hilarious episode of "After Lately" on Sunday at 11pm - this time comedian Josh Wolf is a catalyst. Literally no other late night comedy variety show had new episodes this week. While I can appreciate that putting together these shows requires an incredible amount of admirable work, it's kind of unreasonable to leave fans high and dry during this, of all weeks, when they desperately need some late night entertainment. Handler & Co. doubled up in the weeks preceding the 2nd half of December, producing multiple shows and bits every day so that some new episodes were available during these "vacation" weeks.

Happy New Year everybody! See you in 2012!

Deadline Hollywood has an article titled "What to expect from NBC Sports Network". If you've been watching what will now be formerly referred to as Versus post its NBCUniversal acquisition, and if you've had the misfortune of watching the Olympics broadcasts of the past decade+ you will have a good idea of what to expect: horribly mismanagement of what should be a prized asset. NBCUniversal has been crowbarring ungainly NBC sports events into Versus for the past several months and the look/feel is that of a completely inorganic infomercial channel. NBC has no affinity for producing any sports events other than the big 3 of football, basketball, baseball, and perhaps some tennis and golf. Their other coverage has always resulted in a poor viewer experience, especially the Olympics, which should be under some kind of Congressional investigation as the American people are being defrauded of viewing both watching our athletes perform as well as pivotal moments of international sports history. What can we expect? More of the same garbage until the cost becomes to high and NBC has to shed the network.
