Great Los Angeles Walk 2011 is November 19, Will Explore Hollywood
Time to dust off your sturdiest pair of walking shoes and do a few training treks: The Great Los Angeles Walk 2011 is on November 19th, and will find walkers going from Downtown to the Pacific and exploring much of Hollywood along the way.
The popular annual event is organized by long-running L.A. blog Franklin Avenue, and is now in its sixth year. (Last year we joined in and walked the length of Wilshire Boulevard, which was a mere 16 miles—that's three fewer than this year's route!)
This year, it's "Hooray for Hollywood," and several other amazing 'hoods and cities between the civic center and the sea. Here are some details about the route:
For the Great Los Angeles Walk 2011, we're going to trek through the neighborhood that symbolizes L.A.'s most famous export — Hollywood. Think Musso & Frank's; Grauman's Egyptian and Chinese Theatres; the Walk of Fame; the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel; Capitol Records Building; the Pantages; Hollywood and Vine; and much more.
Participants will meet downtown at City Hall (facing Temple St.) at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, and proceed to walk the approximately 19-mile journey to the Pacific Ocean.
We'll pass through a diverse cross-section of the region, including Downtown Los Angeles, Echo Park, Los Feliz, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Westwood and Santa Monica.
Okay, who's in?
