Taco Talk: Yamashiro's Chef Brock Kleweno's Komida Coming to Hollywood

If you've been to the Thursday night seasonal Farmers' Market up at Yamashiro in Hollywood, you've probably checked out Chef Brock Kleweno's tasty fusion tacos and salsas and guac.

But the Market is closing up for the colder months, with the last night being September 29th. Luckily, you won't have to skip a beat—or a week—without your taco fix: Kleweno is opening his taco shop, Komida, the following Thursday, just down the hill in Hollywood.

Rumor, shumor—here's the total scoop about the venture!

Kleweno, in partnership with Yamashiro owners Andre and Alana Ulloa, has secured a lease at the vacated club space H Wood, but while the large industrial looking space is a bit much for a taco eatery, Kleweno explained they'll be using the patio and former bar area only for now for the operation. For now, you'll be able to grab your tacos on Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the latter of which is timed to align with shopping hours at a brand new Farmers' Market, the Orange Drive FM, that debuts in the adjoining space on September 10th.

On the menu: Those brilliant and delicious tacos served up at the Market, like Duck Confit and Black Cod, along with chips and Wasabi Guacamole, salsas, and Kleweno's addictive pickled shishito peppers. Plus, if you can't get enough of those sauces and sides, you can buy them packaged to take home to dig into later. Kleweno says the menu will expand slowly, and you might find a breakfast taco showing up for those Saturday mornings. The goal is to secure a beer and wine license, as well, so you'll likely soon get to swill some specialty sangrias and bottled brews with your tacos.
