The motorist shot in the face around 5:00 a.m. Sunday while driving in the 1400 block of Silver Lake Boulevard, has been identified as David Vasquez, a delivery man for Garage Pizza and also an employee of El Chavo, according to KTLA.

Police say that preliminary reports show the incident may have been a case of road rage. Vasquez, who is in critical condition on life support at County-USC Medical Center, was driving two coworkers home when the shooting occurred.

"He's a friend, he never did anything to anybody," Garage Pizza manager Kevin Ramsey told KTLA. "Whoever did this is a coward.... He had a family."

Vasquez was described as "a hard worker and loyal employee." Officials said he did not have gang ties.

The gunman was described as a "Latino man in his early 20s with black hair, a medium build." According to police he was driving a green Honda four-door sedan with a female passenger, and used a 9-millimeter handgun. The suspect was last seen heading south on Silverlake Boulevard in the direction of the 101 Freeway.
