Clark Gable's Namesake Grandson Arrested for Shining Laser Pointer at LAPD Chopper

Just because your grandfather played Rhett Butler in Gone With the Wind doesn't mean you are above the law, including when it comes to laser pointers being shone at law enforcement aircraft. Clark Gable III, an aspiring actor, was arrested last night for "allegedly pointing a laser at an LAPD helicopter," reports TMZ.

The famous actor's 23-year-old grandson claims he was pointing the beam at the Hollywood Sign as he was driving around the area with friends. His beam, however, caught an LAPD chopper in flight.

Gable was arrested and booked on a felony charge.

Authorities have been cracking down on people who shine laser beams at aircraft, citing the danger of the lights impairing the pilot and possibly causing a serious accident.
