LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy

Summer! Photo courtesy lars-5 via LAist Flickr pool.

The 4th isn't quite here yet, so don't skip out on some amazing comedy this week (and upcoming weekend). With the LA Fringe Festival in full swing, there are plenty of great shows to go see; not to mention the local favorites like Tiger Lily. Do it!

If you'd like to submit a show onto this weekly calendar, shoot me an email.

Harmontown, 8p Meltdown Comics. Dan Harmon is the wonderful and hilarious creator of NBC’s Community. He’s also a long-suffering writer, comedy aficionado, and all around great guy to watch talk at you from a stage somewhere.

What’s Up, Tiger Lily?, 8p Hollywood Studio Bar & Grill. Man, this line up: Rob O’Reilly, Maria Bamford, Matt Besser, TJ Miller, Melinda Hill, Barry Rothbart. And more! And free!

I Once Was an Idiot, 8p Comedy Central Stage. Jessy Schwartz used to be in a cult, and now just wants to make it in Hollywood, guys. IS THAT SO WRONG?!

Comedy Bang Bang, 8:30p UCB. Formerly ‘Comedy Death Ray’, Bang Bang continues to put together some of the best stand up comedy lineups anywhere in the city - weekly.

Have You Seen my Funnelcakes?, 8p Comedy Central Stage. Angela Randall Hoover is back to let you know that you’ve got no reason to worry: your life is not as weird as hers.

LOOPS: Tales from Behind the Bag, 9:30p Art/Works Theatre. As part of the Hollywood Fringe, John Druska gives you a glimpse into the life of a golf caddy at a private club, complete with the Caddyshack references, business deals, and holes-in-one.

Carneyville, 8p Meltdown Comics. Dave Koechner and Dana Gould put together a creepy carnival of wonders, with stand up, characters, and a bunch of other goofy stuff.

Nick Kroll & Friends, 9p Largo. Well it’s about damn time Kroll got some friends together over at Largo. His buddies? Ed Helms, Pete Holmes, Chelsea Peretti and Seth Morris. Awesome.

Brave New Tomorrow, 10p Actor’s Workout Studio. The official ‘Hey Neighbor Valley Improv Fest’ is kicking off, and this show features the improv stylings of Steamboat Shake, Conrad and iO West heavyweight Orpheus Roy.

Paul Thomas: Comedogenic, 10p iO West. Thomas is a longstanding Chicago sketch performer who is bringing his character shows to iO West for two nights only.

Bob Saget, 9p Irvine Improv. Saget is doing shows Friday and Saturday. As you can imagine, the later shows are where the magic is really going to happen.

Summer Blockbuster Spoilers Revealed, 10p UCB. Some of UCB’s finest give you the stage version of what’s likely to play out in those big box office hits we’ve yet to see this summer.

All Beepers Go To Heaven, 7p iO West. Stupid Time Machine is a sketch comedy group from New Orleans, and they’re going to be in residency all week at iO West with their Beepers show, a tribute to all of the failed technology that has come to pass.

INDIGLO, 8:30p MBar. Alison Becker is back for another month of comedy and charity, with Moshe Kasher, Chelsea Peretti and more. This month’s charity is One Kid One World.
