It's Better at Night: Yamashiro Farmers' Market Named One of the World's Top Night Markets
Up at Yamashiro for the Market (Julie Wolfson/LAist)
One of our favorite Farmers Markets, the seasonal Yamashiro Farmers' Market up in the Hollywood Hills has been named one of the Top Night Markets in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine in their July 2011 issue.
Night markets are a staple in many Asian and South American nations, and are gaining popularity in the U.S. The festive atmosphere of Yamashiro, along with the opportunity to purchase farm fresh produce, locally-produced foodstuffs and other goods, makes it a fun Thursday night stop in the spring and summer months.
"It all comes down to a need for community. There's plenty of nightlife in L.A., but little of it appeals to young families and those tired of the club scene. Evening markets fill the void by providing a casual place where people can mingle with a glass of wine, some live music, and lots of amazing food."
And, PS, don't forget to get some of Yamashiro's Chef Brock's signature fusion tacos while you're there.
