It's Memorial Day, which officially ushers in a summer full of BBQs, beach parties... and comedy! So why not honor the summer tradition with some amazing shows this week. Adam Carolla, Aries Spears, BILLY CONNOLLY?! Not to mention a few long-time great shows, like Sit N' Spin, to keep you satiated as the summer swings into full gear.
If you'd like to see a show listed here, email me. Simple as pie. Mmm, pie.
The Smokes Memorial Day BBQ, 7p UCB. There’s going to be real (electric) grilling, real potato salad, and really, really amazing improv at the annual Smokes Memorial Day BBQ show.
Brunch, 9p The Park. To complete the food theme for tonight’s shows, step out to Echo Park for Brunch. This week has Sean Conroy, Eddid Pepitone and a couple other funny stand ups.
Demetri Martin / Jeff Garlin, 8p Largo. Martin will likely talk about his new book This Is A Book, while Garlin will be a little grumpy and a lot hilarious. Plus, money is going to help West Memphis Three.
I Eat People Like You For Breakfast, 8:30p Santa Monica Playhouse. Steven Alan Green recounts a tale of trying to book Jerry Lewis for a fundraising show, and the insanity that ensues.
Reginald D. Hunter, 8p Comedy Central Stage. Hunter is a young British comedy staple, who is doing one night only after coming off tour with Eddie Izzard.
Beer in the Shower, 9:30p White Horse Inn. Ari Shaffir, Brady Novak, Ali Wong and a bunch of other great stand ups head over to the White Horse. Don’t let the 1 Drink Minimum scare you off.
I’m Doing Great!, 8p UCB. Madeline Walter wants you to know she’s doing just fine, thank you very much. The characters in her hilarious one-woman show? Well, maybe not so much
Sit N’ Spin, 8p Comedy Central Stage. Continuously one of the best storytelling shows in LA. That’s all there is to say.
First Fridays, 9p Theatre Asylum. No, not ‘that’ First Friday. Instead, Laura Mannino has put together a great variety / talk show. This week has Drew Droege, with music by Brent Weinbach of all people.
Aries Spears, 10p Ontario Improv. Spears is in Ontario all weekend.
Billy Connolly, 8p Montalban Theatre. Connolly is an absolute legend, and this is his only LA show. Tix are steep ($50), but you just saw Prince so what do you care?
Armando Show, 8p iO West. John Ross Bowie is telling stories to inspire great improv from some of iO’s best.
Adam Carolla Podcast Live, 5p Irvine Improv. Fresh off breaking the World Record for most podcast downloads, Carolla is bringing the show to the stage in Irvine.
T.J. Miller, 8p Largo. Miller is set to Make Mayhem at Largo on Sunday. If you don’t know the man already, get out and find out why he’s been killing LA lately.
