It’s Saturday, May 28th - Memorial Day weekend for those of you keeping track at home - which means if you’re reading this, you might just be looking for something to do tonight. Now, don’t be ashamed; one of the benefits of living in a city like Los Angeles is that there’s so many options, all the time. And when the trifecta of food, movies, and the outdoors combine? Well, that’s a event more than worth leaving your house for.

The Outdoor Cinema Food Fest returns this year, after spending last summer trolling parks such as Grand Hope, Exposition, and the LA State Historic Park, to bring open air movie screenings and food trucks together in one great place. And their first screening? Well, it’s tonight.

Doors, as it were, open at 5:30 at the Historic Park downtown, with a viewing of There’s Something About Mary to follow at 8:30. In between the door and the last vestiges of daylight, Hollywood Outdoor Movies and til PR have spruced up the event from last year.

This year, a new band will perform prior to the screening (Glen Iris is tonight), as people undoubtedly jockey for blanket space and queue up for eats (Frysmith, Nom Nom Truck, Lake Street Creamery and more).

Not into lining up? Not a problem, as the OCFF has started allowing outside food and drink - another vast improvement on last year's festivities. And just when you thought it was over, comedy juggernaut Funny or Die has teamed up with the event to run videos all summer long before folks settle in for the evenings main attraction.

Still not convinced? That’s fine. Films are running from this weekend through the first part of September, and include fantastic flicks from Goodfellas and Edward Scissorhands to Fight Club, Fargo, and Raiders of the Los Ark. With a $10 entry fee (less if you buy in bulk), the Outdoor Cinema Food Fest is certainly setting you up to have one hell of a summer. Now all you’ve got to do is show up.
