Get Out: Pablove Shutterbugs, NASA JPL Open House, MOCA Teen Night, Bimmerfest
Space Out: It's time to visit NASA. This weekend is the popular, two-day JPL Open House celebrating "accomplishments with exhibits and demonstrations about the Laboratory's ongoing research and space exploration." Lab scientists and engineers will be on hand during the open house to answer questions "about how spacecraft are sent to other planets, how scientists utilize space technologies to explore Earth and how researchers are searching for planets beyond the solar system." Parking is free. Admission is free. NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, 4800 Oak Grove Drive, Pasadena, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (And if you notice a proportionally high BMW concentration in the area, don't panic, it's Bimmerfest. Yes, really, that's a thing.)
Put An F Stop To Cancer: The Pablove Foundation, an organization devoted to fighting childhood cancer, is holding a group photography show of work done by children in various stages of the illness as part of the Pablove Shutterbugs program. Event includes a silent and live auction, celebrity guests, entertainment, food, and activities for the whole family. Free. Kopeikin Gallery, 2766 La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Teen Beat: The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) says… "For one night a year, teens take over the museum for an extravaganza of art, music, and much more. Inspired by the exhibition Art in the Streets, this year’s Teen Night features live performances by local bands and DJs, a local and international student art exhibition, art-making activities, and refreshments. Bring your friends and join teens from all over Southern California for the biggest cultural arts celebration." The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, 152 North Central Avenue, 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
