Zenyatta: Leaving Los Angeles
Los Angeles' most famous equine resident, Zenyatta, is moving to Kentucky but not before a grand send-off on Sunday at Hollywood Park in Inglewood. Come Monday, the six year-old many know as "The Queen" will call Lane's End Farm home where she'll focus on popping out some very sought after babies.
Having called Hollywood Park home for thee years, the famous filly is retiring with nineteen wins in twenty tries and more than seven million dollars in earnings.
After Sunday's sixth race, she will parade through the saddling paddock, and before the grandstand and clubhouse areas for Zenyatta Appreciation Day. On hand will be owners Jerry and Ann Moss, trainer John Shirreffs, her jockey Mike Smith, and exercise rider Steve Willard (pictured above.)
LAist had a chance to be on hand for her final Friday morning gallop in town, yesterday at Hollywood Park.
