Windy Day in L.A: Power Goes Out in Park La Brea Area, Tree Falls onto Valley House [Updated]

Power went out this morning along Beverly Boulevard in the Park La Brea area, most notably causing traffic lights to go down and businesses to shutter along Beverly Boulevard. The LADWP confirms that 664 customers have been affected and that crews are working to restore power. Although it's windy, no official cause has been cited.

Out in Granda Hills, a large tree fell onto a house, leaving a 56-year-old woman with minor injuries. The Los Angeles Fire Department said that a large eucalyptus tree fell and crushed the front of the one-story home on the 17300 block of Kingsbury Street (map) around 10:30 a.m. Once again, although it is windy, officials are not confirming the cause was wind.

Wind gusts have been as high as 55 miles per hour in local mountains, according to KTLA. A wind advisory is in effect for the San Fernando and Antelope valleys.

Update: Another tree has fallen on a house, this time in Brentwood on the 11300 block of Gladwin Street (map). Initial reports from the LAFD indicate no injuries.
