Happy 10-4 Day! Classic Police Cars Go on Parade in Hollywood
In police code talk, it means message received. But many Angelenos probably didn't understand that message during a mostly unknown parade today celebrating those who protect and serve the public. A group of classic police cars lined up at the LAFD's Hollywood Fire Museum (there's also one in San Pedro) and headed to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“While the parade is intended to be fun, it does carry a serious message," explained L.A. City Councilmember Tom LaBonge. "Let’s appreciate our public safety officers and all they do to protect and serve the public."
This morning's event was dedicated to Art Gilmore, who passed away last month at the age of 98 and was a broadcast professional, known for the 156 episodes of "Highway Patrol" (1955-59) he narrated. Actor Broderick Crawford, who played CHP Chief Dan Mathews on the show, was also honored at his Walk of Fame star.
