Pancake Breakfast, Black Licorice, & Donut Ice Cream: Lake Street Creamery's Mobile Ice Cream Parlour Will Make You a Believer

When we got to the window of the Lake Street Creamery truck on Sunday evening we placed the order we'd been waiting over a month to make: "1 scoop of Pancake Breakfast Ice Cream, please!"

Word of Beth Colla and Tim Ferguson's gourmet mobile ice cream parlour-with-a-"u" hit the streets about five weeks before their truck did, and had tongues wagging and mouths watering with talk of their unique flavors, like Donut, Black Licorice, Holiday Chocolate, Aztec Sacrifice, and, yes...ohhh, yes...Pancake Breakfast. The ice creams are made right on the truck, and use the freshest ingredients available, savvy craftsmanship, and, well—they say it better than anyone themselves.

Their Donut ice cream is just like a creamy, frozen lick of the real, cake-y deal. Aztec Sacrifice is a frosty take on eye-widening spicy hot cocoa or truffles (and made with the blood of a thousand virgins, to boot!). And Pancake Breakfast is just that: Pancake ice cream with a hint of maple syrup, chunks of real bacon (veggies, look away!), and a sprinkling of coffee dust on top. The morning meal wishes it could be this good!

All their scoops are served in waffle cups (no waste, please, hug your Mama Earth), and they've got a menu of tantalizing floats, too. They believe Black Licorice ice cream belongs in grape soda, and while we're not so sure, Beth and Tim's smiles and the inviting old-timey ice cream parlour vibe they create even curbside in Thai Town a stone's throw from a famous strip joint is reason enough to sign on to the cult of their Creamery.
