Pride: Dyke Day LA 2010
The mission of Dyke Day L.A. is to create an inclusive space that brings together the past, present, and future of our Los Angeles dyke community. Dyke Day is a grassroots, not for profit event that provides a free and family friendly space for folks to come together and celebrate our eclectic queer family!
The fun day of hanging out on folding chairs and blankets was a welcome relief from all that marching, because some of us are not in such good shape. For those who were energetic and ready to play, there were hula hoops, a Bounce House for the kids (of whatever age), arts and crafts, and free Tarot readings. The event was child (and pet) friendly, abounding with toddlers and pups.
DJs included Nova Jade, Automaton, Miss Kim, and Baby D. While we were there, and they rocked some Bowie, Peter Gabriel, and Stones along with some techno. There was food available from Good Girl Dinette, with wild mushroom baguettes and chicken as well as other treats. Marchers were to gather at 5:30, leave Barnsdall at 6:00, and end a short bit later at El Chavo. But by then I was in my Snugee on the Barco Lounger.
