Adam Carolla and Friends Laugh Against A Tumor

“A worse thing couldn’t have happened to a better guy,” said Adam Carolla of 31 year-old “Bald” Bryan Bishop’s inoperable brain tumor.
“He’s one of the sharpest, brightest, smartest, nicest guys I’ve ever met.”
Bald long before chemotherapy had a chance to take his hair, Bald Bryan spent mornings alongside Carolla on The Adam Carolla Show (unfortunately canceled last February.) That was where he punctuated the wonderful comedy of Adam Carolla with a unique mixture of witty comments and layers of carefully placed sound effects.
Since last month, when LAist met Bald Bryan and his wife Christie, they've received some good news. Radiation and chemotherapy have shrunk the tumor by more than half of its size. However, Bishop still has cancer, and the expensive fight has he and his wife (his 24/7 caregiver) out of work.

To help their friend, Bryan’s old bosses, Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel, are hosting a fundraiser.
Laughs For Bald Bryan takes place on Friday, November 20, 2009, at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre. The 1,200 seat Miracle Mile theatre, is a beautiful venue, fitting for a great night of entertainment.
Chock Full O’ Talent
The event will feature the comedy of Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel, Greg Fitzsimmons, Larry Miller, and Dana Gould. Community/The Soup's Joel McHale will also be hanging out.
Carolla says that he and another old radio partner, Dr. Drew Pinsky, may take questions from the audience and do some live Loveline.
Music will be provided by the foul-mouthed, hit-players, The Dan Band (you loved them in Old School, and The Hangover.)
“We’re basically loaded,” said Carolla of a line-up which may still grow.
“It’s really heartwarming to see everyone step up, and jump in, and rise to the occasion -- whatever other cliches you want to toss out.”
He compared the night’s festivities to “an Amish barn-raising.”
“A family that we all loved, lived down the road, a twister came in and knocked their barn apart. 'Here’s a neighbor in need and let’s just all ply our trade and see if we can help him out.' So, we’re all going to go over there and put a day’s work in, and raise their barn -- except for the part where the chick’s make the food, because that part seems to have escaped us and society.
“We know comedy, that’s our trade."
Carolla’s Promise To Fans
Laughs for Bald Bryan’s not over until the fans say so.
“I will not leave until everyone who wants a picture gets a picture, and everyone who wants an autograph gets an autograph, and everyone who wants a reach-around gets a reach-around,” he said.
“That’s going to be my policy. I ain’t going to fly out the backdoor when the Dan Band plays it’s last song.”

“Tickets are actually selling pretty fast,” said Carolla. “If people are interested in getting in on this thing, now would be the time to get in on it.”
Tickets are $100 and VIP tickets are $300. The VIP tickets earn the best seats in the house, and also access to an open-bar after-show reception featuring the night’s talent.
“These guys are celebrities, but they’re really nice, friendly, accessible guys. They’re more than happy to hang out, take pictures, press the flesh, so on and so forth.
But Wait… There’s More
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. to dedicate an hour for a series of auctions -- silent, live, and online. What can you bid on?
