LA to be Clean Technology Capital?

Attracting business to (or keeping it within) Los Angeles is a good thing for the economy. Having them be green is hip and great for the future. So that's why the Community Redevelopment Agency of the city claimed one million square feet of downtown industrial land for green research, development and industrial manufacturing at the new Los Angles Clean Technology Manufacturing Center that was announced today at a press conference.

“Los Angeles will be the world’s clean technology capital,” Mayor Villaraigosa said. “This is where innovators will create the jobs of a new economy for the 21st century.”

Well, first, businesses have to submit their interest to the city, who in turn must be interested in the business. So lets see if any businesses want to pick up and move. One benefit is that the land is within three government (from local to federal) zones that allow for financial incentives because the area is in a depressed state. Consider it a green pick-me-up.
