The November 2004 issue of the Boulevard Sentinel includes Tom Topping's story, "Food Fight Takes Deadly Bite," about a fatal food fight in Highland Park. Jorge Rivas was shot to death in his bakery on York Blvd on October 22, 2004. Police aprehended as Robert Awwad, who owned a 99 Cent Store next door to the bakery where Mr. Rivas worked.
