Tonight critically acclaimed Québécois indie rockers Wolf Parade will be taking on the Wiltern with Phoenix-based goth-infused electro act Zola Jesus in celebration of their third tour de force, 2010's Expo 86. Chatham County Line, a Raleigh-bred bluegrass quartet ("all brilliant pickers," as my uncle put it), are poised to head the Roots Roadhouse Festival at the Echoplex. And, lastly, Highland Park's own deep crooner Crooked Cowboy will be gracing Spaceland. But we strongly suggest doing whatever it takes to get into the Orpheum Theatre to catch the illustrious and ethereal Nevada City-bred harpist/folk singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom, who recently released her third studio-album, an illustrious triple album entitled Have One on Me.

Around the World with the -ists
that we want to kill anyone and everyone that makes a "something on a something" joke. But then we realized that there was no way we could ever win this fight, and, hell, if you can't beat them, we might as well join them. And with that, you have the theme of this weeks' Gothamist network post.
Coachella - Sunday Preview
We have many fond memories from Coachellas past, but right now we're totally jealous of that Lollapalooza lineup. Sunday tickets are sold out. You'll either have to buy a two-day pass or take your chances in the secondary market.
Blasphemous rumors allayed: Coachella lineup announced
Coachella, the 100-plus-degree Woodstock of the West has announced its 2006 lineup. As rumors had predicted, Depeche Mode will perform in the unofficial "I love the 80s" slot. We're surprised that rumors of Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine reuniting haven't proved true. Maybe concert organizers are holding back a few "surprise guests" to goose ticket sales down the line.
