Opening reception tonight at 8 pm at LACE for I Feel Different, a multimedia group show organized by guest curator Jennifer Doyle. Participating artists: Nao Bustamante, James Luna, Lezley Saar, David Wojnarowicz, Monica Duncan, Lara Odell, Susan Silton and LACE resident artist Niña Yhared (1814). The project explores “both the experience of feeling different from others and the transformational power of art to make one feel differently.” There’s also a reading tonight by Raquel Gutierrez and live performances Yhared and Luna.

                                   

Last Thursday night "The Masters of Photography Collection" was unveiled at M + B Gallery in West Hollywood. The world-renowned, not to mention charming and hilarious photographer Rankin shot 1,000 unique Polaroids that will each grace 1,000 bottles of limited edition Macallan Fine Oak 30 Years Old. There are only 150 of these bottles in the United States. The primarily black and white photographs were shot on the Macallan estate over six days. The gorgeous blonde model is none other than Rankin's girlfriend.

For a band that waited 20 years to get back together, and for a band that knew that they were going to announce their reunion tour today at the Whisky, they sure didn't have many tour dates lined up. The Police are arguably the most anticipated reunion tour in recent memory. Only a Pink Floyd reunion, one would think, could eclipse this summer's tour but when it came time for the Police to cough...

Last month the American Cinematheque screened the ultra-rare early '80s classic "Urgh! A Music War", a collection of new wave and punk groups (Devo, The Cramps, X, Dead Kennedys, The Police, etc.) that were bubbling under and destined to make it big.
