This weekend a new "show" called Quarterlife premiered and with its premiere, the realization of web-based entertainment was brought one step closer. Have there been other attempts at creating episodic (webisode) programming for the internet? Yes, but not with the calibre of participants or the level of funding that was brought to Quarterlife. The actors in Quarterlife are actors that you may have already seen in television programs like The West Wing, Ugly Betty, and......

Yes folks it that time of year again when people make lists of the top whatevers that did something, didn't do something, inspired them, made them laugh, cry, sick or any number of other things. LAist has so much fun this week! They go to E3, where they overhear the timeless remark "Man, this is where nerdy girls get laid." Is that a promise? They also give us this week's best CDs and make us realize that LA is the best place to use Zillow. Ah, Houstonist. They're biking to work, that is, if they can figure out how to get there. That's right, Mapquest says "Houston had the......

The SAG awards start with a bunch of actors telling their stories to the camera. 8:04 Sandra Bullock, the first presenter, is wearing a cute dress. Too bad she spits out her lines like they're cedar chips. She introduces Crash, for best ensemble film. 8:05 Eva Longoria looks amazing, of course, except for her 50s-era hair tragedy. Patricia Arquette, on the other hand, has '30s era hair that works for her. Will she beat out......

If you're running south to avoid the La Canada-Flintridge fire, we reccomend that you don't run too far south, since Compton looks like it's about to become the Murder Capital of America. Last night on The West Wing, SoCal residents found themselves running for their lives, but not knowing which way to run. While LA isn't about to have radioactive steam vented into the atmosphere (it's bad enough already, thank you very much), the......

We'd hate to think it had any connection to the death of Leo McGarry...uhh, we mean John Spencer...but it looks like when Josiah "Jed" Bartlet leaves the West Wing, so will NBC. Its true that the "Left Wing" was hitting the midpoint of a downward slide towards consistent mediocrity, ala Law & Order, though when compared to the rest of network TV it isn't all that bad. And if you think about it, the......

We don't mean to be all-Arianna all-the-time today but while the launch of her new blog seems to be the talk of the town today, she's doing something cooler later this week. On Thursday, she'll sit down for a conversation with the amazing Anna Deavere Smith at 826LA. There are lots of things to like about Ms. Smith -- like her consistent casting as key government figures in films like "Dave", "American President", and......
