LADOT announced two new bike lane projects yesterday which is welcome news after the PR problems of April 2009 when it was believed LADOT planned to remove bike lanes - not add to them - to allow for more car traffic. LA Streetsblog is pleased to see that not only is the Valley getting a better bike network, but "it's also good to see the LADOT keeping its promise to paint the lanes on Reseda and Rinaldi."

No Consensus on Possible Subway Stop at Wilshire & Crenshaw
Curbed LA attended Wednesday night's scoping meeting about adding an additional stop to plans for the Westside Subway Extension. Public comments ranged the gamut, from it's absolutely needed to hell no. Curbed's conclusion seems right on: "If we were betting bloggers, we'd have to say Metro will skip a Crenshaw staton. The ridership isn't quite there, the density can't be changed, it's cheaper to build the line without it, and you have wealthy homeowners adamantly against the stop."
All Aboard: Westside Subway Extension Rolling Ahead
Heading west via Wilshire by bus is slowly getting faster, but better news for many might be that the Westside Subway Extension is prepping meetings for the next phase of planning. Subways are a century-plus old mode of transit, but these days to spread the word even Metro (who remain stagnant in getting hooked up with Google Transit) knows that Facebook is the way to go. CurbedLA points to the Westside Subway Extension's Facebook page, where they've begun to murmur audibly about April community meetings.
