We already took you swimming for your video lunch, so why not stay in the water with this video from Los Angeles band Warpaint, which was shot in portion in the Echo Park Deep Pool.
The pool is one of the few indoor year-round pools operated by the City of Los Angeles.

Warpaint @ the Sky Bar for Mondrian Sessions 10/15/10
While the parking is always unsettling on the Sunset Strip, there's no bias here against a band playing amidst the backdrop of a beautiful hotel pool, like Warpaint did at the Mondrian's Sky Bar last Friday night for iAMSOUND's free "Mondrian Sessions".
FYF 2010
Scorching heat and long line issues aside (shouldn't we be used to this for festivals anyway?), our friends at FYF did not disappoint in 2010. With an amazing lineup featuring an indie rock dream roster, the entire day was a chaotic party of three stages, VIP tents, food trucks, Sailor Jerry rum drinks, and all the bands you could want to see. Per usual, the photo pits were packed, the fans were rabid, and the beer was cold. Highlights included Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti killing "Round and Round" while the entire crowd sang back-up, Big Freedia with her Azz (literally) Everywhere, and !!! being !!!, short-shorts and all. A day so good it might just hold us over until FYF's next big show at SXSW 2011.
FYF Fest w/ Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Washed Out, Man Man, School of Seven Bells, DeLorean, and The Rapture, 9/4/10
There's no question that FYF Fest promoter Sean Carlson can assemble a musical lineup that arguably rivals or even surpasses many of the longstanding festivals, including the Sunset Junction Street Festival. But will this year's problems be resolved next year?
FYF Fest w/ Let's Wrestle, The Growlers, The Blow, Cults, Screaming Females, Warpaint, Best Coast, and Thee Oh Sees, 9/4/10
Earlier this month, the seventh annual FYF Fest took place at the LA State Historic Park near Chinatown, and while the numbers -- 37 bands across three stages with 17 comedians and an estimated 20,000 attendees -- are impressive, the consensus among many was how disorganized the event was, as exemplified by tweets like "FYF = fuck you fans fest," "Almost 3 hours to get into @FYFFEST = FAIL," "@FYFFEST is like a hipster concentration camp," "Hey @fyffest maybe you wouldn't run out of water if you let us bring some inside. It's only 95 degrees. Jus sayin'," and "Fuck lines fest more like @FYFFEST."
Tonight In Rock: The Airborne Toxic Event, The xx, The Charlatans, The Dø
Tonight British alternative rockers the Charlatans will be performing for free, in-store at Amoeba Music in Hollywood (Canceled!). Los Feliz-bred Top 40 maestros the Airborne Toxic Event are poised to headline the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre with none other than the Calder Quartet. And, lastly, French/Finnish indie pop duo the Dø will be gracing the Bootleg Theater. But we strongly suggest doing whatever it takes to get into the Hollywood Palladium to catch critically-acclaimed British indie rock outfit the XX. LAist favorites, local indie rockers Warpaint (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4, #5) and Phoenix-based goth-infused electro act Zola Jesus are slated to kick things off.
5 L.A. Bands Make Stereogum's Top 40 Best New Acts of 2010
Okay, so UK-based music news magazine NME last month released their list of best new bands of 2010. It, of course, named a handful of local bands. Now today comes music blog Stereogum's 40 best new bands of 2010. Once again, local heroes are named.
Locals Among the '50 Best New Bands of 2010'
There's so much new music out there, it's sometimes hard to pick who to check out. Today UK-based music news magazine NME released it's 50 Best News Bands of 2010 list -- as they describe it, "the 50 bands who've blown our minds over the past few months."
LA Street Food Fest w/ The Deadly Syndrome & Warpaint, 7/24/10
The second edition of last weekend's sold-out LA Street Food Fest (see previous LAist coverage) may be but a distant memory, but with many of the thousands of attendees wielding cameras, there is an abundance of content to wade through. Besides the vendors outside and inside the Rose Bowl, there was Unique LA's Marketplace as well as live performances from DJ Bryan Davidson and LAist favorites The Deadly Syndrome and Warpaint.
Tonight In Rock: Dead Meadow, Mystery Claws, Magic Bullets, So Many Wizards
LA-bred psych rockers Dead Meadow, who recently rung in their latest endeavor, 2010's feature-length film and soundtrack Three Kings, will be taking on Spaceland. This past weekend, Pasadena was not only host to the Annual Chalk Festival, but the 3rd annual Make Music Pasadena (see LAist's coverage of the inaugural edition). We checked out a sampling of the over 50 performances across town, with a focus on local artists: Big Whup at Vroman's Bookstore, Franki Chan and Warpaint at the Main Stage, and Eliza Rickman and Jessica Fichot at Alliance Française.

But we strongly suggest spending the day in the lovely confines of Pasadena—the city yours truly calls home—for this year's Make Music Pasadena Festival. It's one of the more beauteous Summer days here in Pasadena: cerulean skies, a slight breeze, and mind-numbingly temperate 70 degree conditions. Two of Brooklyn's finest, dance punk duo Matt and Kim (LAist Review) and indie rock trio the Antlers (LAist Review) will be performing, as well as a bevy of locals—including Warpaint, Voxhaul Broadcast, Breakestra, and Big Whup (LAist Review). And, what's more, it's freaking free!
Tonight In Rock: Walking Sleep, Pollyn, Mystery Claws, Rangers
Tonight LA-bred electro pop trio Pollyn will be gracing Bordello with none other than local indie pop quartet Robotanists. Mystery Claws, a side-project of Princeton's Matt Kivel that also features Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa, are poised to ring in their debut—2010's Hydaspia—at the hole-and-corner Pehrspace. And, lastly, San Francisco-by-way-of-Dallas experimental psych troubadour Joe Knight, who performs under the pseudonym Rangers, will be taking on Echo Curio. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Bootleg Theater to catch Walking Sleep, the venerable local indie rock outfit formerly known as the Flying Tourbillon Orchestra (LAist Review, #2, #3); The band will be celebrating the release of their debut record, 2010's Measures. LAist favorites, Seattle's most promising talent, folk singer-songwriter Zach Tillman, otherwise known as Pearly Gate Music, or the younger brother of Fleet Foxes drummer J. Tillman, is poised to kick things off.

But we strongly suggest heading over to the Bootleg Theater to catch Rhode Island-bred hip-hop and electro production duo Javelin.
Warpaint, Slang Chickens @ UCLA's Kerckhoff Grand Salon 04/21/10
LAist made the trek over to Westwood for an intimate pair of performances by Warpaint and Slang Chickens, respectively, at UCLA's Kerckhoff Grand Salon. The show, hosted by the Campus Events Commission, was a student-only affair and attracted a few dozen or so attendees. Slang Chickens began the evening with an ambiguous yet energetic set, complete with an electric banjo and a Grand Canyon-sized reverb in tow. Warpaint then followed and kicked-off their set with a 7 minute impromptu jam session before transitioning into their lead-in single, "Stars." The night concluded an hour later as the band closed out with the crowd favorite,"Elephants."
Tonight In Rock: Joseph Arthur, Megafaun, Sara Watkins, Warpaint

This Sunday afternoon, the family-friendly Kidrockers returns to The Echo, hosted by comedians Matt Dwyer and Jonah Ray with performances by His Orchestra and LAist favorite Warpaint. In the meantime, enjoy photos taken at Kidrockers shows earlier this year with Buddy and Dengue Fever as well as The One AM Radio and The Watson Twins.
First Fridays @ Natural History Museum 02/05/10
The Natural History Museum brought out the big guns for their second installment of 2010's First Friday's series. All musical talent aside, it was like the Pitchfork version of Maxim's Hot 100 List with the beautiful ladies of Warpaint opening for the handsome gents of Yeasayer. An intense amount of excellent genetics in one room upstaged only by key picks from their respective oeuvres. (Speaking of which, you should really grab the latter's Odd Blood if you haven't already. Good stuff.)
Soundcheck: Warpaint @ Natural History Museum 02/05/10
With advance tickets selling out two weeks ago and people lined up yesterday before noontime (and in the rain no less!) to buy the remainder, interest in last night's edition of First Fridays at the Natural History Museum, with performances by Warpaint and Yeasayer, was at a near-record pace. It was the most ambitious project yet for Spaceland Productions, who set up a whopping 14 videocameras, four of which were also used for the live webcast via Stickam, and two RED ONEs converted for shooting in 3D.
Tonight In Rock: Yeasayer, Rhett Miller, Daedelus, Amanda Blank [Updated]
Tonight Old 97's front man Rhett Miller will be headlining the Troubadour with none other than local alt-country troubadours Leslie and the Badgers. LA-based electronic mastermind Daedelus is poised to take on the Echoplex with Nosaj Thing. And, lastly, Philadelphia-based rapper and singer Amanda Blank will be performing at the Avalon in Hollyweird. But we strongly suggest doing whatever it takes to get into the Natural History Museum to catch Brooklyn-based buzz band Yeasayer, who will be performing for this month's edition of First Fridays. Local indie rockers Warpaint (LAist Review, #2, #3) are slated to kick things off.
Week In Rock: Yeasayer, Nomo, Laura Marling, Vivian Girls
This week Brooklyn-based buzz band Yeasayer will be headlining the Natural History Museum with none other than local indie rock outfit Warpaint (LAist Review, #2, #3) for this month's edition of First Fridays. Ann Arbor's crown jewel, a relatively diminutive post-afrobeat outfit by the name of Nomo (LAist Review, #2) are poised to grace Spaceland with Orgone, a proficient funk troupe that stunned us at Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle a few years back. English folk singer-songwriter Laura Marling will be taking on Largo at the Coronet. And, lastly, Brooklyn's own punk rock trio Vivian Girls will be performing at the Smell in Downtown with LA-based lo-fi pop act Best Coast in tow.

Tonight Australian singer-songwriter Butterfly Boucher will be gracing the Troubadour. LA-based string quartet the Section Quartet are poised to take on Largo at the Coronet. LAist favorite, local singer-songwriter Kenneth Pattengale is slated to kick things off.
Tonight In Rock: Imogen Heap, Band Of Horses, The Happy Hollows, Best Coast
Tonight London-based electronic singer-songwriter Imogen Heap will be performing to a sold-out crowd at Henry Fonda Music Box. Local indie rockers the Happy Hollows (LAist Review, #2, #3) are continuing their month-long residency at Spaceland. And, lastly, LA-based lo-fi pop act Best Coast will be gracing the Smell in Downtown. But we strongly suggest heading to Club Nokia to catch South Carolina-by-way-of-Seattle folk rockers Band of Horses. LAist favorites Warpaint (LAist Review, #2, #3) are slated to kick things off.
2nd Annual Manimal Festival w/ Fool's Gold, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, VOICEsVOICEs, Juliette Commagere, The Polyamorous Affair, Warpaint + More @ Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace, 10/4 & 10/5/09
Earlier this month, local record label Manimal Vinyl (see our interview last year with its founder) held its 2nd Annual Manimal Festival at Pappy and Harriet's Pioneertown Palace. "In its second year, the two-day event showcases bands on Paul Beahan's record label... alongside musically bohemian peers," described Daiana Feuer from Papermag. "Manimal's experimental pop catalog -- which began most notably by releasing Bat For Lashes' record two years ago -- lends a unified voice to freak folk and its close cousins, many which are collected on yearly tribute albums to Madonna, The Cure, and in 2010, David Bowie. Manimal's focus mainly follows two streams: The ethereal, spooky soloist tradition [and] the dance beat, taking pop to strange outer space."
Soundcheck: Correatown, Eagle & Talon, The Voyeurs @ The Echo 10/5/09
Local singer-songwriter Angela Correa's band Correatown has held this month's Monday residency at The Echo, and tonight is their final show before embarking next month on a European tour. While this gallery features photos taken during their soundcheck with Eagle & Talon and The Voyeurs, see photos from the actual show at Web In Front.
