Woman Found Murdered in 'Upscale' Burbank Neighborhood

Police in Burbank are looking for suspects behind the shooting death of a 48-year-old woman whose body was discovered overnight in Burbank, according to abc7.com. "Officers responded to a call of shots fired on the 4200 block of West Jacaranda Avenue," near North Toluca Park Drive, which is described as being in an "upscale Burbank neighborhood." The victim was found "on the ground in front of a home," and "pronounced dead at the scene." Police believe she may have been shot when she answered her front door, by a man dressed all in black who fled in a black Mercedes, reports MyFoxLA. This is the first homicide in Burbank in 2009.

Update, 2:40 p.m.: According to Officer Diaz per KNX1070, the suspect hit one of the officers twice in the head with the butt of a knife. The other officer fired a couple shots with one apparently entering a Metro bus slightly injuring one passenger. The other shot hit suspect who was brought to hospital in stable condition. This was at the Southeast corner of Sunset and Vermont.

Both the LAPD and the LA Fire Department are reporting incidents in the vicinity of Sunset and Vermont Boulevards, but both cannot confirm if they are related at this early stage.

Three different news stories are making the rounds today, all of which involve cars and crimes, and all of which are best defined as "things that make you go hmm?" (Are we still allowed to say that?)

Two robberies at gunpoint took place late last night in Hollywood, resulting in injuries to the victims.
