Seems like everyone is running to the web these days as a secondary broadcast option. NBC did it a long time ago and now a couple more big names are heading that direction. Viacom will be adding an assortment of its shows to Fox-NBC joint-venture HULU - yeah, finally we'll be able to see full length episodes of "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" rather than the ridiculous little clips we've been getting off......

So The Colber(t) Repor(t) and The Daily Show are back and while Colbert, Stewart, Kimmel, and Conan are all nimble on their feet, and very funny and engaging, it's amazing how the success of all these shows really comes down to the writing. It's great to have them all back on the air and it does provide us all with some late night alternatives, but I hope NBC, ABC, and Viacom come to their senses......

About the above picture: The Rawking Refuses To Stop!, a blog of all things Los Angeles pop culture and MP3, shares with us their best concert photos of 2007. Above, they sneak out of LA to New York to see Les Savy Fav at the Bowery Ballroom (we'll just say they did the same thing when they came here). Don't forget -- you still have today and tomorrow to enter our Rufus Wainwright/Belinda Carlisle......

In a bid to save late night television programming as we knew it, the Carson Daly show will jump the gun on production in the coming days; WGA strike settlement or no, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The late night talk shows have taken a big hit since the Writers' Strike began three weeks ago as insomniacs nationwide discover that Nightline never actually went off the air. Viacom's Comedy Central is losing its late......

Daily Show devotees will remember a recent episode in which special correspondent Rob Riggle was sent to Anaheim to report on a local dispute pitting a coalition of Anaheim business owners and residents against the almighty Disney over an affordable housing initiative in the Resort District (which the company firmly opposes). Allegations of possible gang-related violence, mugging, drug-dealing (and even fellatio) abounded in the hilarious report as Riggle questioned a befuddled Councilwoman Lorri Galloway......

Here's some tech news that made the cut this week: • Professional social networking site Linkedin has seen its traffic spike over three hundred percent in the last year. I wondered why I started getting all those Linkedin invites recently. • Speaking of social networking, watch out for the Facebook backlash. And, in a related story, what's a site like Facebook worth anyway? • Intel has joined the $100 group (aka one laptop per......

The Daily Show's Demetri Martin examines the legality of watching him discuss the legality of watching The Daily Show on YouTube. For the full effect, watch it illegally via this embedded YouTube player before Viacom submits its takedown notice. If the YouTube video doesn't work, watch legally via Comedy Central's videoplayer, embedded after the jump.......

• The legal dispute between media giant Viacom and Google owned YouTube just gets more unpleasant. • Is Viacom engaging in a bit of hypocrisy when it comes to enforcing copyright on its programming? Maybe so. Take a look. • Did Viacom overstep its bounds a little when issuing those takedown notices for videos over at YouTube? Some people think so and are suing. • In other more pleasant Google news, one of its......

That was the Talking Heads and the next 24 videos will either be love songs, romantic songs, sexy songs, or tunes you should download and get on your mix list tonight bitches. And although it's not in our nature to apologize for a post during the post, we apologize for the versions of the songs that we are presenting today. Viacom has decided to shoot itself in the foot by demanding that YouTube take......

We were certain that the ol' suits at Viacom were just out for cash when they demanded that YouTube take down 100,000 videos last week. But it seems the Big 'V' has something else up its sleeves. If you've already got a destination site with regular programming, (as Comedy Central does), who really needs the Tube? And what to do if you don't have TiVo? ShareTV presents torrents of your fave shows, downloadable soon after......

Paramount Pictures announced this week that they are ending their 14-year relationship with Tom Cruise and his Cruise/Wagner production company. The relationship between Cruise's production company and Paramount disintegrated into name-calling after Sumner Redstone, chairman of Paramount parent company Viacom Inc., said Cruise's recent behavior, such as jumping on Oprah Winfrey's couch and pushing his Scientology agenda, was "creative suicide." Redstone said such displays cost his studio up to $150 million in lost ticket......

Dear MTV, You know we love you. You know you're our favorite channel. And you called your shot and it came true: we can't live without our MTV. Like any relationship we've had our rough times. At first you wouldn't play black artists, then you played too much Michael Jackson. Fine, thanks for meeting us half way. For being pretty much the only music video channel in town you liked to play the same......
