It's hard out there for a Vespa. A young man riding his scooter in Long Beach was struck by a car and died, reports the Long Beach Press-Telegram. The 18-year-old man, Zachary Kurzawinski of Hawthorne, was driving past the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Fe Avenue yesterday at 8:30 a.m. when a 43-year-old man driving a Toyota hit him as the car switched lanes to get into a parking lot. more ›

This past weekend the Go Green Expo rocked the Los Angeles Convention Center, bringing a diverse array of vendors, activists and entertainers downtown. A traveling tour of all things green, this was the Expo’s second year in Los Angeles. More than 300 booths, grouped into several sections, from “Green Jobs” to “Eco-Pet Expo,” offered options for every stripe of environmentalist. (More than 5,000 attended on Saturday).
