Police have arrested a man on suspicion of plowing a green SUV into two buildings in Orange County, including a social services facility where he left a mysterious package. Two churches in Rowland Heights are part of a hate crime investigation after they were vandalized this weekend, according to KTLA. A Jehovah's Witness church at 19111 Killian Avenue was vandalized with graffiti on it's exterior walls that contained "offensive words, phrases and symbols" sometime between 10 p.m on Friday and before 6 a.m. on Saturday. In 2009 there were 580 hate crimes reported in LA County, down from 730 in 2008, according to LA Now, however, "such crimes against Jews spiked almost 50%." One Jewish group points to a series of "relatively minor" vandalism incidents "in which the word 'Jew' or some variance was sprayed onto a number of buildings and trash cans." More than half the reported incidents were focused on race, with African Americans the top target.
