Add Senator Barbara Boxer to the list of Californians that are concerned about the safety of San Onofre Nuclear generating station.
Boxer has sent an open letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) asking for a probe into the safety of the plant in light of the recent leak and a worker falling into a pool of water laced with radiation.

Republicans Will Take Control of the House
Several news sources are predicting that Republicans will take control of the U.S. House of Representatives. Although not all races are called, the party is holding a lead in enough for a takeover. Says the The New York Times' FiveThirtyEight blog: "Frankly, this night is looking slightly anticlimactic, with both the House and the Senate having moved in relatively clear directions so far." They predict a 1% chance Republicans will take the Senate.
Move to Repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Blocked in U.S. Senate
The military's infamous 17-year-old "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy about serving while openly gay will continue after it failed to see the day of light in the U.S. Senate. An attempt to end a Republican filibuster on the 2011 Defense authorization bill didn't work when Senators voted 56 to 43. 60 votes were needed before an actual vote on ending the ban could be taken, according to TIME.
Barbara Boxer Edges Out Carly Fiorina in Most Recent Poll
Another day, another poll for the closely watched California U.S. Senate seat. And what's new? Nothing, really, as it's too close to call. The latest survey is compliments of Public Policy Polling, which found that voters are 50% for incumbent Barbara Boxer and 42% for former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.

In addition to today's gubernatorial poll showing Republican candidate Meg Whitman leading by eight points, Rasmussen Reports also surveyed likely California voters on the U.S. Senate Race that could unseat Barbara Boxer. The poll, released Wednesday, shows former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina catching up to Boxer -- 43% to 44%. Among the other poll respondents, 5% said they'd choose a third party candidate and 8% were still undecided.
