Metro will be receiving $47.75 million, thanks to the federal government's State of Good Repair program, to build a new bus operations and maintenance facility in downtown Los Angeles. To be located near Union Station, the facility, which they hope earns the environmentally Gold LEED status, will provide service for up to 200 buses and include two structures: a 16,300 square-foot bus operations and administration buildings and a 500,000 square-foot bus maintenance building. A total of $766 million allocated nationwide. Long Beach, Anaheim and Foothill Transit also were awarded.

53 transit projects around the country have been selected to receive federal money, the Federal Transit Administration announced today. Four projects in California, including one in Orange County, were chosen, but the one within Los Angeles was not.
