U.S. Fights To Draw Against Chile

U.S. Fights To Draw Against Chile

Sporting Kansas City forward Teal Bunbury buried a penalty kick at the 74th minute to bring the U.S. level with Chile in last night’s friendly at the Home Depot Center. Bunbury and fellow youngster Juan Agudelo entered the match a mere 15 minutes earlier and had an immediate impact on the match. Together, the two helped energize a U.S. squad that had lost its midfield at around the 30th minute mark. more ›

TV Junkie: 'Sons of Anarchy' Premieres Tonight; Our Emmy Tally; More Vids: 'SOA' & 'Covert Affairs'

Speaking of Emmys we've taken the sad tally of our picks for the Emmys and compared them to the winners: we scored 6 out of 19 but the Academy surprised us and picked 3 of _our_ preferred picks so can we add these to our Win column? That would make our success rate a much-preferred 50%. The big upsets were Kyra Sedgwick and Edie Falco winning. Even hardcore fans of Sedgwick and "The Closer" would have to admit that she's done much better performances in better-written seasons of that series. Our amusing anecdote about that win was that her husband, Kevin Bacon, told us to keep an eye on her statuette while I was washing up in the men's room - he placed it next to my sink. more ›

U.S. Earns Respect with Draw

The U.S. National Team faced a tough test on Saturday in its FIFA World Cup 2010 debut, facing England, one of the tournament's favorites. It was a rematch sixty years in the making. The last time the two teams faced each other was the 1950 edition of the World Cup in Brazil, when the U.S. upset England by a score of 1 - 0. A feat so shocking, English fans believed the scoreline to be a misprint. England has since hosted and won the World Cup in 1966, but the U.S. game has had its ups and downs. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Philly Stuns Lakers

LAst Night's Action: Philly Stuns Lakers

Philadelphia 76ers defeat LA Lakers 94-93. With a foul to give the Lakers let Andre Iguodala get off a three pointer at the end of the game to burn them. Mind you this is after Kobe drained a jumper for the lead with six seconds left. The Lakers had led by as many as 14 points early in the fourth quarter but let it slip away with very sloppy play. After their last game Phil Jackson commented on the Laker's lack of a killer instinct. If this game wasn't evidence of that...As Stu Lantz said at the end of the FSWest broadcast there was a lot of green in the building. What the hell is wrong with you Lakers fans? How the hell do you think it's remotely appropriate to wear green in the Staples Center? Dumbasses. more ›

TV Junkie: Thank You Conan O'Brien

TV Junkie: Thank You Conan O'Brien

Tonight marks the last broadcast of Conan O'Brien on "Late Night..." and what a ride it's been. From being a virtual unknown in front of the camera, O'Brien is now a staple of late night television. O'Brien's resurrection of NBC's "Late Night" after the departure of David Letterman to CBS was not easy and the first few years were very tenuous ones for the wild haired funnyman. With support from Lorne Michaels, O'Brien was given enough time to build an audience, something almost unheard of these days. more ›

TV Junkie: Pacitti Yanked from 'Idol'; Oscar Broadcast News; FOX Fridays

Controversial contestant Joanna Pacitti has finally been pulled from "American Idol" after it was revealed that she had friendships with multiple executives with "Idol" co-producer 19 Entertainment. For fans of the show who couldn't believe that she had made the cut after performing poorly and fumbling lyrics to several songs during the Hollywood rounds of auditions, it will be assumed that she had moved ahead due to these personal relationships and not merit. more ›
