There's a lot of new TV on tonight with plenty of premieres and finales. Foremost among the premieres are Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" (see today's interviews w/Edie Falco, Peter Facinelli, etc.) and "The United States of Tara" - both half-hour dramedies with more of an emphasis on drama than comedy. With "Nurse Jackie" (10pm) you have the incomparable multi-Emmy winning Edie Falco supported by a more than capable cast with Peter Facinelli in a role much better suited to him than you will ever see in the Twilight film series. We've seen most of season 2 and it inspired us to go back and re-watch the season 1 DVDs, it is that good.
TV Junkie: Showtime Premieres 'Nurse Jackie' & 'United States of Tara'
Interview: Carrie Ann Inaba & Chris Harrison
On Sunday, "Dancing with the Stars'" Carrie Ann Inaba and "The Bachelor's" Chris Harrison will be working the Red Carpet for TV Guide Network's coverage of the Primetime Emmy Awards. Earlier this week, LAist had the pleasure of sitting down and talking with the tandem who will be interviewing the biggest stars of the small screen on “Live at the Emmy Awards with Carrie Ann and Chris” from 6:00-8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
LAist Interview: Patton Oswalt, Big Fan
I recently had a fan moment when I found myself on an elevator with the star of Big Fan, Patton Oswalt. “I LOVE The United States of Tara!” I gushed as I hugged this perfect stranger. He could not have been more warm and adorable as he chatted with me about the show and how glad he was that my mom loves it, too, and he told me to tell her to keep watching, even though she lives in China and downloads it illegally. (What? They don’t have Showtime.)
TV Junkie: 'Battlestar Galactica' - Vaya Con Dios
Tonight marks the end of "Battlestar Galactica", for about 20 years until the geeks of the future resurrect it like they did the now-campy 1970s version. Some have complained that this final season swung the show onto a science-fiction track that was too science-fiction-y but the show had to return to its roots, its core, before wandering off into the cosmos.
