If you would pony up considerable cash to be the owner of some (yes: used) undies that once rested upon the nether-regions of Hollywood mega-icon Marilyn Monroe, you should have been in Beverly Hills this weekend, when one such pair of panties--worn by the actress in the 1954 film "River of No Return" were on the auction block.
Would You Pay $44K For Marilyn Monroe's Underwear?
Undies-Clad Shoppers Line Up for Free Clothing Event in Santa Monica
How far would you go for free clothes? Would you, say, disrobe and stand in line in a bustling tourist hub in Santa Monica? or some shoppers, the answer to that question is "yes," and they had the chance to prove it today, reports KTLA. Desigual, a Spanish company that sells men's, women's and children's clothing, promoting the opening of their newest store on the promenade by offering the first 100 people who showed up in their undies a free top and bottom.
OC Co-Eds Strip Down: UCI Does an Undie Run, Too!
Oh, to be young and inclined to run around a campus at night in your underwear... The longing was put into action on the UC Irvine campus last week, as about 150 co-eds stripped down and sprinted out under the relative cover of night. "It's not illegal to run around in your underwear, as long as all the appropriate parts are covered," remarks the OC Register in their story on the run. They also note that the event is pretty huge here in Los Angeles, something UCLA students know very, very, very, very well. The UCI campus police hung back and watched, and made sure the students didn't run into the nearby shopping center--in case they ran into Irvine cops. Sure, it was cold, and sure, strangers were watching, but the bottom line was pretty straightforward, according to one student: "It felt really good to be free from all that stress, from finals and some issues at the dorm."
This Valentine's Day, the Pink Underwear Group says 'Drink Up!'
In the wake of the violence against women in Mangalore, India two weeks ago, where single women out for a nice night were attacked by members of an unapologetically reactionary group called the Sri Ram Sena, an organization called "A Consortium of Pub-going, Loose and Forward Women" based in New Delhi did the only logical thing they could do to retaliate--form a Facebook group, and call for all Indian women, and women all around the world, to send pink chaddi, or panties, to the Sri Ram Sena's leaders.
The Best of the UCLA Undie Run: 2006-2008
Although the Undie Run has been around since 2002 (in lieu of the Midnight Yell), major media outlets really didn't start to catch on until a few years ago. Last night, ESPN, NBC, FOX News and four LA Times staffers (Adam Rose produced a great video for them) were seen at the event. LAist has covered the event since 2006 so here is some of last night mixed up with the best of since '06:
It was the Biggest UCLA Undie Run Yet
The event was so wild that LAist photographer Tom Andrews' camera came to near death in a water balloon fight (everything is okay now!), people were swinging from trees, the police put on their tactical/riot gear and there was a much more variety of happenings going on this time around. UCLA student Ryan D. Knight also helped out by contributing many of the wonderful crowd shots. And with that, finally, here's your Undie Run. See you next December.

Thousands Strip Down at the UCLA Undie Run
LAist has been sending undercover reporters to UCLA's undie run for the past few quarters and trust us, there's no better place to be embedded than in a throng of thongs. Try as they might to duplicate our coverage (we're looking at you, KTLA ... and the creepy dude with a camera lens that was a lil' too long, if you know what we mean), nobody can uncover a story like we can. Thanks...

UCLA Undie Run Spring 2007 Photo Essay
We've never been bigger Bruins fans during March Madness, and we're not talking about basketball. Hundreds -- possibly thousands -- of coeds stripped down for the traditional UCLA Undie Run. This edition had a slightly modified course that kept the run on campus, starting in front of the fraternities and ending in a fountain by Royce Hall. LAist was on the scene to provide complete coverage of the uncoverage. In this post you'll find...
UCLA Undie Run Photo Essay - Part 2
A picture is worth a thousand words, and sometimes in photo journalism that is more words than you need. A second post of pictures covering the Undie Run? Sure, why not. More photos after the jump....
UCLA Undie Run Photo Essay
It is exam week right now at UCLA, and all of the students are feeling mighty stressed. It's a good thing Bruins have excellent coping mechanisms for finals anxiety, including midnight howling at the moon as well as running across campus almost naked at midnight of the third day of finals - it's tradition. LAist decided to stop by last night to take some photos of the debauchery. Follow the link to get the...
FSM Holiday Pageant
We really love the TV special "A Charlie Brown Christmas," but it's hard to watch it with a an innocent eye after finding Donavan Freberg's blogs (first link rated "G," second link NSFW). See, Freberg was not only the kid on those ads for Encyclopedia Brittannica in the '80s, but also one of the voices of Linus Van Pelt. And after seeing photos of him online in his underwear and checking out his way-not-safe-for-work...
