TV Junkie: At the 2011 TV Land Awards

The TV Junkie went to "The TV Land Awards" in NYC on Sunday night and got a few morsels of video for you including a controversial "claim" by Regis Philbin that he is responsible for the success of Joel McHale and Greg Kinnear. Check out the vids. more ›

TV Junkie: 'Daily Show' Punks the NY Times; We Heart Kim Alexis

We're guiltily excited about the season premiere of TV Land's "She's Got the Look" as the TV Junkie got to interview show host Kim Alexis at the TV Land Awards in April. Also, check out Conan as he's got both Norm MacDonald and Jim Gaffigan on. more ›

Midnight Movie: Just Bea-in' Sexy

Midnight Movie: Just Bea-in' Sexy

Last week Hollywood lost the legendary Bea Arthur, when the funny lady of television and Broadway passed away at 86. The fab foursome of Arthur's hit series The Golden Girls is often compared with the totally different kind of fab foursome seen on Sex and the City, this TV Land video shows the late, great Arthur (along with television's other golden ladies Katherine Helmond, Charlotte Rae, and Sally Struthers) lampooning the HBO series, and reminding us she'll always have the last laugh. more ›

LAist On the Red Carpet @ the 2009 TV Land Awards

The TV Junkie braved the stunning heat last Sunday to put on a monkey suit and attend the red carpet ceremonies at the Gibson Amphitheater for the 2009 TV Land Awards. This event is a favorite of TV fans as it's an opportunity to see the creators and talent of some of the best TV from ages past, most of whom are also involved in current TV projects as well. more ›

TV Junkie: Harold & Kumar Go To The White House (wait, just Kumar)

TV Junkie: Harold & Kumar Go To The White House (wait, just Kumar)

In case you didn't hear about it yet, but internist Dr. Kutner on FOX's "House" committed suicide in Monday's episode. This was hastily written into the script as the real-life Kal Penn is leaving acting for a while to go work for the Obama administration in the Office of Public Liaison. This also means no more Harold & Kumar movies for a while, so we're all sacrificing here - but seriously, congrats Kal and godspeed. more ›

TV Junkie: Ad Spending Down - Cable Doing Well; Zucker Defends Cramer

Ad spending in the US dropped by 2.6% in 2008, with only cable increasing ad revenue for the year. TV and cable still retained a leadership position as the preferred media, taking more than 60% of all ad dollars. more ›

TV Junkie: Wednesday

TV Junkie: Wednesday

Comedy Central has started to establish some control over Wednesday nights. What's funny is that I started to go back to them on Wednesdays because of Lewis Black's excellent show "Root Of All Evil" (anyone catch him on Conan last week? He was great) and now I'm finding myself re-engaging with "South Park" but I'm sure that program directors at Comedy Central were planning for the flow to happen the other way. Whatever, it's working on me. "Lewis Black's Root Of All Evil" is the TV Junkie Pick tonight and not coincidentally because the incredible Patton Oswalt is on the show as one of the comedian-debaters seeking to prove whether Paris Hilton (or the very idea of her) is more evil than Dick Cheney. more ›

TV Junkie: Wednesday

TV Junkie: Wednesday

The 10:00pm slot is hot again tonight but I'm going to have to go with Lewis Black again, that's a great show, maybe Comedy Central has finally figured out what to do with him. In other items, the Nielsen Company, whom I've occasionally reported on/castigated in this column, is inviting LAist to submit some TV Trivia questions for an "Ultimate Pop Culture Trivia Challenge" contest and I'd to invite YOU, our readers, to submit some questions for this. Please send your questions to me at tomdog@gmail.com (we don't want any sneaks to get these in advance through the comments on the website). Your participation would be much appreciated! more ›

TV Junkie: Big Wednesday

TV Junkie: Big Wednesday

I dunno what's up but the 10:00pm and late night slots seem to have a lot going on. Lewis Black has a new show with a new format on Comedy Central tonight and he's on Letterman as well, kudos to Lewis! more ›

TV Junkie: Wednesday

[The Junkie's been sick for a few days but we're back] LAist has some great coverage of the Project Runway finale tonight on BRAVO @ 10:00pm so I'm not even going to touch that. If you can't stand the fashion tension, you can always switch over to the L.A. County Board of Supervisors Meeting broadcast on KLCS and your tension will be released utterly. more ›

Suzanne Pleshette, Rest In Peace

Suzanne Pleshette, Rest In Peace

We're sad to learn that actress Suzanne Pleshette has died in Los Angeles from lung cancer at age 70. Although she appeared in film very early in her career in such high profile projects as Jerry Lewis' The Geisha Boy and Hitchcock's The Birds, the vast majority of her time was spent in television. more ›

Star Spangled Banner Medley

Jib Jab has a history of giving us great quality and highly snarky video creations. Their newest is to help us celebrate our Nation's 231st birthday and is an assortment of Presidents saying words and lines from the Star Spangled Banner. Obviously we're only privvy to those who have made their way into TV Land. Which is too bad. I heard Andrew Johnson was a hoot! more ›
