Rodarte Exhibition Featuring 'Black Swan' Tutus Opens Tonight at MOCA
"Black Swan" Tutus on Display at MOCA's Rodarte Show
Whether it was the allure of elegant dancers on their tippy-toes, the charms of Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, or the appeal of a disturbing thriller that drew you to the cineplex to see Black Swan, the art of the dance was a big part of the visually dynamic Oscar-nominated film. Part of the world of ballet are its costumes, and the dark-versus-light of the evil and good swans played out on the stage and in the feathers and tulle of the dancing garb.
L.A.'s Rodarte Designs Killer Costumes For 'Black Swan'
Darren Aronofsky's nine-year-old Grimm brainchild Black Swan is finally being released to the world on December 3. Brutal and beautiful, the film is a visually stunning journey of a not very pretty sight, the gory gorgeousness reaching its pinnacle with the ballet costumes -- particularly the glorious black swan costume -- designed by L.A.'s own Laura and Kate Mulleavy of the much celebrated line, Rodarte.
TV Junkie: Give Fallon Time; Models vs. 'Lost' & 'Damages'
Critics are being rather forgiving of Jimmy Fallon's (only slightly shaky IMHO) "Late Night" debut: they brought out DeNiro who is always a tough interview and Fallon kind of made it work, and Timberlake kind of saved the first show - not sure why they had Van Morrison on, are they trying to reclaim the age 55-and-up demographic?
TV Junkie: Thursday
Gob from "Arrested Development", aka Will Arnett, has struck a deal with Fox to create his own show. His absence from the small screen will finally come to an end and here's to hoping that the show won't turn into some kind of generic garbage. Hubby Amy Poehler is also slated to get her own show on NBC sometime after their first child is born. I dunno, both parents are actors with starring roles on shows on different networks, that's a tall order to fill - wish them luck.
