Travis Pastrana to Attempt World Record in Long Beach on NYE
Come New Year's Eve, motorcross superstar Travis Pastrana will attempt to break the world record for longest jump in a car. He plans on jumping 171 feet from a pier in Long Beach Harbor onto a barge. "Everyone always jokes about launching off a pier and Red Bull was able to pull it together where we have a barge to land on, which I think is going to be absolutely insane," he told the Long Beach Press-Telegram. Because of the jump's location, it should be viewable from a variety of angles.
LAist Spends the Day at Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory with the Stars of MTV's 'See You Thursday' Lineup
Last week LAist took MTV up an opportunity to hang out at Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, a 25,000 square foot complex which is home to Rob's business empire Dyrdek Enterprises and the setting for his reality show, which enters its second season tonight at 9pm. To celebrate the new season, Rob along with the cast of "Nitro Circus" and "Bully Beatdown" (season two of both premiere tonight as well) got together for a Tuesday afternoon of Velcro suit dirt bike jumping and other various shenanigans that most human beings wouldn't dare to try.
Motocross Legend Travis Pastrana Gets Toasted And We Talk To BMX Star Daniel Dhers
Travis Pastrana has been the only person to land a double back flip on a motorcycle, enjoys jumping out of planes without a parachute, has done a back flip in a monster truck, won nine X Games gold medals and three Rally America championships, has a show on MTV where he and his crazy friends do incredibly dangerous (and exciting) things called Nitro Circus, and has pretty much beaten everyone around him in every sport he's ever tried - and he’s only 25 years old.
Due to the fact that Pastrana might not live to see his 26th birthday, and the fact that it's been ten years since he first emerged as a motocross star (Yes, he won his first X games gold at the tender age of fifteen) Red Bull and MTV and God knows who else, decided to throw a lifetime achievement award party/ roast for Mr. Pastrana at the Avalon in Hollywood in order to honor the living legend, while he's still...you know living.
