LAst Night's Action: Lakers Beat Up Wiz

LAst Night's Action: Lakers Beat Up Wiz

LA Lakers defeat Washington Wizards 115-103. Perhaps meeting President Obama yesterday did the Lakers some good as they demolished the Wizards. Then again with the turmoil going on with the Wizards it shouldn’t have been that hard to beat them. But the Lakers came up struggling in the first quarter just taking a one-point lead after one quarter. The bench came in the second quarter and ratcheted up the defense holding the Wiz to 15 points while going up by 16 at the half. While the Lakers relaxed a little in the second half, the Wiz couldn’t dig out of the hole they dug themselves. Wizards forward Antawn Jamison led all scorers with 27 points while Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol both got 26 points with Gasol adding 10 rebounds. Shannon Brown energized the Lakers from the bench scoring 11 points and getting three steals. The Lakers, now 2-2 on this road trip, move on to Indianapolis tomorrow for a game against the Pacers. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Trojans Squeak By

USC Trojans defeat USF Dons 74-69. Things are a little bleak for the Trojans. The Dons excellent three-point shooting kept them in the game. Actually it was what helped them build a 12 point lead in the first half. But the Trojans went on an 18-5 spurt to take a one point lead at the half. In the second half the Trojans kept the Dons in the game until a 21-15 run by the Trojans let the escape Galen Center with a victory. Good news: the Trojans are undefeated at home. Bad news: they next face the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Farmar Continues to Lead Lakers to Victory

LAst Night's Action: Farmar Continues to Lead Lakers to Victory

LA Lakers defeat Charlotte Bobcats 102-98. Jordan Farmar led all Lakers scorers with 17 points in just 22 minutes played to help the Lakers squeak past the still-winless Bobcats. After trailing by six at half time and by as much as nine in the third quarter the Lakers started to clamp down on the Bobcats to get back into the game. With an Andrew Bynum slam dunk to open up the fourth quarter, the Lakers took their first lead since the first half. Although Pau Gasol and Bynum seem to be playing better together, they still have a lot of shore up. Scary moment happened in the second quarter when new Laker Josh Powell and Kobe Bryant both went up for a rebound and collided knees. Bryant landed awkwardly and hyperextended his knee. He will be day-to-day. more ›
