Obama Bound for L.A. to Aid Boxer

Senator Barbara Boxer faces a challenging re-election with either Republican and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina or former Republican Congressman Tom Campbell in the race. Both GOP candidates stand a good chance against Boxer, according to poll numbers that put both sides in a "statistical dead heat" this week. Also, Boxer's unfavorable rating went from 39 percent to 51 percent in two months. Obama will attend a fundraiser in support of Boxer in April, says Rick Orlov at the Sausage Factory. Campbell Leaves Gov Race, Will Challenge Boxer for Senate Seat

Following murmurings earlier this week, former Congressman Tom Campbell has officially announced he is withdrawing from the Republican gubernatorial race and intends to challenge Barbara Boxer (D) for her Senate seat come fall, reports KESQ. New Poll Finds Brown Ahead of Newsom 47% to 27%; GOP Race Unsettled

A Field Poll released this morning has Attorney General Jerry Brown comfortably leading San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom by 20-points in the race for governor. Results indicate Brown at 47 percent with Newson at 27 percent. Meanwhile, the three Republican candidates have less succinct results. "About half of GOP primary voters (49%) are undecided. Among those offering a preference former eBay head Meg Whitman receives 22% of the vote, former Congressman Tom Campbell 20% and State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner 9%," explained the poll. more ›
