Tonight In Rock: My Morning Jacket, Empire Of The Sun, Tokyo Police Club, Gamble House
Tonight Louisville's crown jewel My Morning Jacket will be headlining the Greek Theatre with none other than Long Beach/Los Alamitos natives and recent Sub Pop signees Avi Buffalo (LAist Interview, Review). Australian electro pop duo Empire of the Sun, which is of course composed of Luke Steele of the Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore of Pnau, are poised to continue a four-night stint at the Music Box at Henry Fonda Theater. And, lastly, Ontario-based indie rockers Tokyo Police Club will be performing to a sold-out crowd at the El Rey Theatre with Queens' own indie pop buzz band Freelance Whales in tow. But we strongly suggest heading over to Pershing Square to catch a free performance by O.C.-based indie folk act Gamble House, who recently released their fantastic self-titled, studio-album debut.
Coachella: Day Two 04/17/10
With so many bands playing, the breadth of Coachella’s line-up can be a curse as well as a blessing. It forces the fans to make a choice between potentially up to 5 acts they may all love. Unfortunately, I have been faced with decisions such as Them Crooked Vultures or Grizzly Bear, Dead Weather/MGMT or Muse, and on Sunday Phoenix/Thom Yorke or Pavement/Gorillaz. Most of these decisions have essentially been an old favorite vs. a curious desire to see a different band. So far, the old favorites are up 2-0.
Weekend Getaway: Monolith Festival, Day 2
Day 2 of the out-of-state Monolith Music Festival at Red Rocks this past weekend consisted of American Bang, Tokyo Police Club, The Avett Brothers, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Band of Horses, TVOTR, and Airborne Toxic Event who got their album torn apart on Pitchfork but rebutted. (Thanks a million to BetweenLoveandLike aka Erica for the ATE pics!)

Now that the line-ups have been announced, I'm happy to follow Sloane's lead and speculate on what my day will look like.
Countdown to Coachella
In preparation for Coachella, LAist is going to bring you some banging live performances from bands that are on our "must see" list. The first is from Tokyo Police Club, a Canadian indie-rock band that is playing the Mojave stage on Friday from 3:30-4:20.
