Looks like Fox programming won't go to the wayside. Time Warner's Director of Digital Communication, @jeffTWC on Twitter tweeted: "Attn Time Warner Cable customers: We have a deal with Fox. Your programming is safe. Please RT" Fox programming was supposed to be cut for Time Warner Cable customers at midnight last night, but the two companies extended talks. TV Junkie: You May Lose FOX (or not); 'MOACA' Tonight; NYE Shows

It's still possible, if not probable, that if you have Time Warner cable, you will lose your FOX stations at 12:01am this Friday as the network and cable provider have not reached an agreement on the per subscriber reimbursement fee. FOX wants up to 50% more per subscriber compared to the other major networks fees and Time Warner isn't happy about that. Unless you want your fee to get a non-significant hike, you shouldn't be happy about it either. With less than 4 days to go, do you think they will work things out? more ›

Time Warner Cable Customers Report Audio Drops in TV Service

Time Warner Cable Customers Report Audio Drops in TV Service

For the past few months, there's been a constant drone of Time Warner complaints that come our way. "Time-Warner has hit an all-time low. Despite the fact that both LAist and The Los Angeles Times has reported Bot attacks on the provider they absolutely refuse to 'fess-up' to the issue and credit me with a refund," a reader left in our anonymous tip box. Another tipster followed up with a complaint we experience daily at home. "Paying extra for Digital service and using their DVR box does nothing to improve things; DVR'd shows frequently have blips and sound drops. How is this company allowed to continue providing such sh*tty service to the 2nd largest media market in the country?!" It's true, at least for us at home where they happen consistently about every 15 minutes. Who else experiences this? more ›

Mayoral Candidate Zuma Dogg & Time Warner

Mayoral Candidate Zuma Dogg & Time Warner

LA Weekly nicely profiles activist and public-access television star Zuma Dogg who is running for mayor on the March ballot. But the story is much more than just Zuma, it's about shutting down public-access. "If everything unfolds as planned, on January 1, Time Warner, which owns more than 90 percent of the cable-television market in Los Angeles, will walk away from operating 12 public-access studios in L.A, which help everyday people to create hundreds of hours of content on 11 freewheeling, neighborhood-based public channels." During former Mayor James Hahn's administration, a needs assessment produced by the city supported public-access saying it fostered "participation in the democratic process.” Mayor Villaraigosa's Office, who produced their own study, said “we will cease to use the public-access studios as pursuant to the law." more ›

For the past two nights I’ve suddenly lost the ability to reach a site in a browser. Oddly enough I’m able to instant message and receive emails.. but no web access. What’s the deal Time Warner?" The snarky blogger polled his Twitter followers and found that he wasn't the only one. Is the same happening to you? Update: KCAL News at 4 p.m. reports that the problem began on Sunday night and should be now fixed. more ›

TV Junkie: Wednesday

On Monday the NY Times reported that ABC and Cox Communications are collaborating on a video-on-demand service with disabled fast-forward, meaning, yeah, that you can't skip the commercials. This isn't that new an idea as Time Warner Cable has been doing the equivalent with two features called "Start Over" and "Look Back" (after using them IMHO they stink). more ›

Ok maybe it's not the worst DVR ever made Oh yes it's the worst. And it's not just me, customers hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it. The Mountaineers Make Wolverine Mince Meat: College Football Week 1 Review

Stu Won't Fizzle Boom Dizzle

You can still root for LA's Golden Boy. After leading the Warriors to one of the greatest series upsets in the history of American sports (eighth seeded Golden State knocked off top ranked Dallas in six), Baron Davis went from star to hero. It looked like he might be headed for further greatness against Utah, but on Sunday things took a turn for the worse. He was held to 15 points as the Jazz... more ›

City of Moorpark Sues Time Warner Cable

City of Moorpark Sues Time Warner Cable

Does this sound like something the City of Los Angeles should do? The city of Moorpark has slapped a $25,000 fine against Time Warner Cable over what it says is poor service provided to customers. The City Council voted 4-0 to fine the company over technical problems, long waiting times and telephone prompts that didn’t lead to the right answer. “Time Warner has, for a period of time, not lived up to the obligations that... more ›

AOL and their users: Dumb and Dumber

AOL and their users: Dumb and Dumber

The first question should be, "who the hell still uses AOL?" With DSL being advertised for $20 or less for new users, and cable providers doing more to use that fat pipe, LAist finds very little sympathy for modern-day web surfers who pay the Virginia company $28 a month for the wonders of dial-up. And we have even less sympathy for those whose social security numbers ended up on an AOL-generated web site recently... more ›
