New Metro 'Service Enhancements' in Effect: Gold Line Bus, Rapid Line Canceled
Twice a year, Metro makes a slew of changes to their schedules and transit routes in an effort to improve service and efficiency. Sunday was one of those days. Usually, there is something new and flashy to show off like a new Rapid bus route, but this summer there's no such thing. In fact, one Rapid line was discontinued in the Valley and another lost its weekend service in South LA.
Thank You, Obama! Metro to Hold Off on Setting Long Ass Timelines
Metro's board was supposed to vote later this month on the long-range plan that would have set timetables for projects such as the "Subway to the Sea," and other projects. Community members and politicians such as Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa were not to pleased to see opening dates for projects more than 20 years from now (a subway to Westwood/UCLA would open in 2032).
Metro Arrival Time Screens Now Working
Finally. After being delightfully teased for months on end by Metro with their new LCD screens hanging in subway stations with blank "next train arrival" info, the moment has finally come. Late last week, Metro began to "phase in" the arrival info starting in the Valley and Hollywood. Metro says expect to see this operating system wide within the next month.
