Tim Biskup + MFG Opening Reception @ De La Barracuda 11/13/09
We hope you came out and enjoyed the I Hate Everyone But You opening reception last night at De La Barracuda. Matt Goldman, aka MFG, and Tim Biskup were in good form, welcoming guests and discussing their old and new work. If you weren't able to make it last night, not to worry! The show will be up through the end of next month, with tons of goodies of various price ranges to buy before the holidays are officially here.
Hollywood Bowl Poster Art Show at the Arclight
After a summer of memorable shows at the Hollywood Bowl, the 2009 posters will be exhibited at the Arclight along with many images created for bowl performances throughout the years. No one will forget Grace Jones master class in theatricality and the night that Jenny Lewis and Ray Lamontagne shared their unique authenticity with the Bowl audience. These shows and more hold a special spot in our hearts and now can take their place on our walls.
Tonight: Tim Biskup + MFG = I Hate Everyone But You
Longtime friends and Los Angeles locals, fine artist Tim Biskup and graphic designer/event promoter Matt Goldman (aka MFG), team up together to bring us "I Hate Everyone But You", a collection of new and past work. Tonight marks the opening reception, with DJ Dirty Dave and DJ Alphabeast spinning all sorts of ridiculous, plus Colt 45 and Red Bell shucking out complimentary drinks. The whole thing goes down from 7-9 pm at De La Barracuda on Melrose. If you're familiar with the goings-on of a Thursday night at La Cita (Danceright), you'll be well-prepared for whatever brilliant mischief Biskup and Goldman are apt to get up to.
Props to Local Graphic Designer/Blogger, Bobby S.
Today, the Wall Street Journal's blog, Buzzwatch, pointed readers over to a local graphic designer named Bobby S., who runs a blog called Kitsune Noir. "Ummm… I’m In The Wall Street Journal," he wrote earlier today. "File this post under un-fucking-believable."
Pencil This In: Saturday
With just about a month left in the exhibit, artists Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup, and Simone Legno will be gathering for a discussion about the work of Takashi Murakami at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. The event, called Pervasive Persuasion, is a panel-style talk moderated by Eric Nakamura, publisher and co-editor of Giant Robot, and will include thoughts on "how and why artists in Los Angeles are blurring the lines of media to spread their ideas beyond museum walls." The evening will end with the opportunity for the audience to participate in a collaborative painting with the artists and a enjoy unique performance art experience by Oguri.
