LA Dodgers defeat Cincinnati Reds 6-1. Can the Dodgers play the Reds everyday? Seriously. Not only do the Dodgers score more than one run, they give beleaguered starter Derek Lowe run support. Pitching on a strict count, Lowe pitched only 5 1/3 innings making 85 pitches giving up only one run on three hits with six strikeouts. James Loney helped the cause hitting a solo homer and an RBI double. Dare we wish for......

Rocco Mediate Still Smiling. AP Photo/Chris Carlson Tiger Woods wins US Open. I hate watching golf, but Monday's playoff round in Torrey Pines was the most compelling golf since Adam Sandler tackled Bob Barker. So the 72 holes over the weekend wasn't enough to settle things between Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate. Even the 18 playoff holes weren't enough. No, they played a sudden death hole where Mediate finally caved in hitting a bunker......

Ducks 3, Predators 1 - Another day, another 28 saves from Jean-Sebastien -- Giguere , that is. The southern JS notched his first win in goal this season after coming back from a sports hernia. Rookies Petteri Wirtanen and Drew Miller both netted their first career goals in the third period ... The Ducks continue to struggle on the power play. They were 0-2 last night against Nashville and are now 3-36 on the season.......

Cubs 8, Dodgers 2 - There goes that winning streak. The Blew Crew committed three errors, but only allowed one unearned run. That left an average of one earned for each of the seven pitchers used by Los Angeles. Juan Pierre was responsible for one of the errors, but also picked up his 55th stolen base of the year. A's 6, Angels 2 - Garret Anderson has been en fuego. He extended his RBI streak......

Nike has put together some pretty cool commercials, but this one makes us wonder. Is it real, like the Tiger Woods one, or fake, like the Ronaldinho one? If it's real, did they super-impose the swoosh on the ball in post-production so it would show up in the ad? Either way, Wayne Rooney is a baller. In the interest of full disclosure, this LAist contibutor does work for Nike, though not in advertising or......

LAist loves video games. Loves them. And we love Black folk. Half of LAist's Editors over the years have been African-American. Which makes you think that we should be covering more Black History Month stories than what we have, but, whatevs. LAist sees no colors. Last week the blog microscopiq wrote a wonderful post called "The First 11 Black Videogame Stars" where they listed and summarized 11 video game main characters that you *had*......

Is LAist stoked that Tiger Woods is back, and black, and Asian? Of course. What could be finer than the dominance of minorities in traditionally white sports? World peace perhaps? That'll never happen. What about a humane wage for hard-working people who make shoes for a company who flinches when it only makes $377 million of profit in a quarter? We have nothing against capitalism or paying people from around the world a fraction......

Larry King in remembering Mike Douglas said that he thinks "nice guy" when he remembers the former talk show host. LAist remembers someone who loved stars so much that he let them be themselves. He let John and Yoko take over his show for a week, he let Sly Stone be Sly Stone, he even let Tiger Woods (as a child) demonstrate his putting skills. But you tell us, who was featuring Tom Waits......
