Tonight NY-bred indie pop outfit Vampire Weekend (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4) will be headlining the Hollywood Bowl with Baltimore-bred dream pop duo Beach House and the Very Best, an eclectic musical amalgam comprised of London based production duo Radioclit and Malawi-bred crooner Esau Mwamwaya. LA-based experimental punk outfit Abe Vigoda are slated to perform at this year's Abbot Kinney Festival with none other than Long Beach natives Crystal Antlers (LAist Review), Puro Instincto, LA-based alt-rockers Olin & the Moon (LAist Interview), Voxhaul Broadcast, Kenneth Pattengale and many more. Vampire Weekend Confirmed for Hollywood Bowl 9/26

Just announced: Vampire Weekend will make their Hollywood Bowl debut on September 26th, headlining a show that will be opened by Beach House and The Very Best, both of which will also make their bow on the famed Bowl stage. Touring in support of their successful sophomore effort Contra, Vampire Weekend joins the ranks of several other high-profile alt-rock outfits who will make a stop at the Bowl this season. Tickets for this performance will go on sale on May 2nd online and at the Bowl Box Office, and will be available by phone on May 11th (if there's any left!). It was almost as if a giant, grumpy deity wielding a garden hose came down from the sky on Saturday morning and announced, "You kids are having too much fun! Cool it." Rain poured from the sky in the early morning, and the gorgeous seventy degree weather evaporated over night. Not to be outdone by Master P, Marion "Suge" Knight was arrested over the weekend. In a surprise twist, Suge wasn't in trouble in connection with a violent incident but for driving fast and carrying the chronic in Barstow. One can only imagine that Mr. Knight will use the incident to help increase sales of the upcoming Tha Row release, The Very Best of Death Row. Part of the proceeds of the sale of the album are supposed to be going to helping support soldiers returning from Iraq. We here at LAist always knew Suge was a good samaritan at heart. more ›
