Louis C.K. Battles NYC Traffic & Kid Vomit To Make 'The Tonight Show'

His hectic morning involved taking his two daughters to school - in a limousine provided by "The Tonight Show" - when a few obstacles, like traffic and a sick kid, put a damper on his plans. more ›

For the past several years, Erotica LA has been an annual summertime tradition at the LA Convention Center, with Conan O'Brien on his short-lived edition of even mentioning its existence. Conan Out, Leno In [Updated]

TMZ is reporting, via unnamed sources, the predicted inevitable: "Jay Leno has made a new deal with NBC, which gives him 'The Tonight Show' from 11:35 - 12:35." And as Conan said earlier this week, he's not willing to move to a later spot. Shows taking Leno's 10 p.m. spot will be Law & Order, Parenthood, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Marriage Ref (a Jerry Seinfeld show) and Dateline NBC, Monday through Friday, respectively, according to The Wrap. Expect more coverage and details in future TV Junkie posts. UPDATE: Unnamed sources tell The Hollywood Reporter TMZ is wrong. more ›

Ron Paul + Tom Cruise + Sex Pistols on Leno Tonight

Ron Paul + Tom Cruise + Sex Pistols on Leno Tonight

Somehow "The Tonight Show" scored a trifecta of controversy tonight as they were able to book the most punk rock of punk rock bands, the most conservative member of Congress, and the wackiest Scientologist all to appear on its air in the same hour. Tonight the Sex Pistols, Ron Paul, and Tom Cruise will all be in Burbank to tape the late night chat show. Strangely, whatever wire service the LA Daily News used... more ›

Joe Wilson, Comedian

Joe Wilson, Comedian

For Joe Wilson, joking is a part of everyday life. After all, he is a comedian. But, one day, some casual joshing lead to an experiment: would people pay money for celebrity air? Joe put his plan into action, started an eBay auction, and found himself swamped by media attention, enemies with Jay Leno, and with enough material for a one man show that he called A Jar of Celebrity Air, which he'll be performing on November 3rd at the LA Comedy Fest . If that's not enough, you can also catch some of Joe's award winning solo comedy on October 27th and 30th. more ›

TV Junkie: Tonight's Picks

Late night is pretty good tonight - will have to make some tough choices or be handy with the remote. 8:00pm Big Brother CBS - Who gets the boot? 8:30pm The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer TCM - The always dapper Cary Grant squares off against a frigid but hot Myrna Loy and avoids the attentions of a grown up and horny Shirley Temple - a classic. 10:00pm Mad Men AMC - This is the... more ›

TV Junkie: Tonight's Picks = Slim Pickins

TV Junkie: Tonight's Picks = Slim Pickins

Hump day ain't over, at least for TV - Wednesday is probably one of the worst-programmed days of the week this summer. Throw me a frickin bone here. Your choices for prime time are mostly reality/game shows: 'Power of 10' (CBS), 'So You Think You Can Dance' (Fox), 'Last Comic Standing' (NBC), 'Don't Forget the Lyrics' (Fox), etc. Or just commit yourself to 2 retro hours of 'My Music: The 70's Experience' (KOCE-PBS, 8:00pm)... more ›

The Bush Administration No Likee Michael Moore

Yes, they're claiming the subpoena has to do with Mike's recent trip to Cuba for the filming of "Sicko," but it's hard for me to believe that there are no other underlying motives: Filmmaker Michael Moore revealed on Thursday's "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno that the Bush Administration had served him with a subpoena regarding his recent trip to Cuba made as part of his new film, Sicko. Moore told the audience that... more ›

A Word or 56+/-: I guess Tuesday's are Ida Lupinow filmfests on TCM - why, god why? How about a Terry Thomas filmfest for effssake? TV Junkie: 'Rescue Me' Returns; Eric Idle on Ferguson

A Word or 39: It feels like Wednesdays are going to be the night with new programming this time of year. It feels like it, but it doesn't look like it since not much of this stuff is watchable. Hidden Palms?? For effsake. Tonight - Wednesday - June 13th, 2007 Mets @ Dodgers (PRIME, 7:00 p.m.) Hidden Palms (the CW, 8:00 p.m.) Country club party time The Next Best Thing: Who Is the Greatest... more ›

TV Junkie: America's Got....Branson on Letterman

A Word or 56+/-: Even the movie selections suck tonight unless you want to watch an Ida Lupinow filmfest on TCM, which I really don't want to do. I'm superexcited to see Parker Posey on Late Late and hopefully I'll catch Feist on Conan after switching over. Tonight - Tuesday - June 12th, 2007 Mets @ Dodgers (PRIME, 7:00 p.m.) Angels @ Reds (Fox Sports, 7:30 p.m.) On the Lot (Fox, 8:00 p.m.) The... more ›

TV Junkie: Get Comforted; Flight of the Conchords on Letterman

A Word or 100+: Ooops, I missed the Tonys, malhereusement. If there's a pick tonight, other than arena football, then it's the US version of Creature Comforts on CBS at 8:00 p.m. (from the creator of Wallace and Gromit). I love the UK version but my kids have a hard time with the various British accents and some of the various topics - I know it's a lot to ask for but I'm hoping... more ›

TV Junkie: 'The Sopranos' Meets Its End; Richie Makes the Rounds

A Word or 68: At long last, The Sopranos takes its long walk off a short pier, "leave the gun, bring the cannoli" a famous gangster once said. The somewhat heavily promoted (color double spread NY Times) John From Cincinatti follows. Nicole Richie continues to make her last ditch appeals for favorable public opinion before she appears before a judge in the next month or so - watch the rich girl squirm. Tonight -... more ›

TV Junkie: Sex On Wheels; Amy Sedaris on Letterman; Poison on Ferguson

A Word or 54 (or so): I know that there are some folks who are happy to be getting a few new episodes of the doomed Studio 60 - enjoy it while you can. Funny how there is no cohesive letter-writing campaign to save that one, at least not a campaign that is getting any press. Tonight - Thursday - June 7th, 2007 Dodgers @ Padres (KCAL, 7:00 p.m.) Pirate Master (CBS, 8:00 p.m.)... more ›

TV Junkie: 'American Inventor' Premieres; Cornell on Leno; Artie on Letterman

A Word or 77 (or so): ABC has a lineup of new episodes and shows tonight - bucking the other networks, with the exception of Fox and the CW, who were always trend-buckers [hey, I said "buckers" ok, you dirty-minded individuals]. You might have also seen on the AP that the kids are trying to keep Jericho on the air - if CBS doesn't want to run it, they should sell it. I always... more ›

TV Junkie: Buscemi on Rollins; Apolo on Conan

A Word or 20: No network or cable channel has made a compelling reason to stay inside this Memorial Day Weekend and watch TV. Tonight - Friday - May 25, 2007 Cubs @ Dodgers (Prime, 7:30 p.m.) The Henry Rollins Show (IFC, 8:00 p.m.) Steve Buscemi pushes new films Interview and Delirious, and discusses his years as a firefighter and working at Ground Zero. TV Junkie: der Governator on Leno (where else?); 'Idol' and 'Lost' Wrap Up 2 Hours Each at 9PM

A Word or 53: Idol and Lost finish up tonight. Am pleased to see Apolo win DWTS - 24 ended with a 'blah' and as you can see we have very little in the way of new programming. Enjoy the unending Dukefest on TCM. I guess this time of year is why we have baseball to watch. Tonight - Wednesday - May 23, 2007 John Wayne's 100th Birthday (TCM, ALL DAY) Nothing but John... more ›

TV Junkie: 'The Office' on at 8 PM; Delay on Colbert; Homer Simpson Does Top Ten; Emo Alert: FOB on 'Last Call'

A Word or, I dunno, like 80: It seems to be coming together a bit on Lost - another good episode last night. If you want the producers' perspective, they're on tonight after Grey's. Delay goes to his base tonight on Colbert. Tonight the networks will have the typical struggle between comedy and young-doctors-in-love, what will you succumb to? Tonight - Thursday - May 17, 2007 Angels @ Mariners (Fox Sports, 7:00 p.m.) Bob... more ›

TV Junkie: The Retiring Bob Barker Is All Over CBS Tonight; Comedy Hottie Sarah Silverman on Kimmel (literally too, unfortunately)

A Word or 52: TV icon Bob Barker is retiring and is getting a big sendoff from CBS. Lost will be killing us by not giving us any additional info about Locke. Idol will knock another one off. There are no decent movies on TCM or IFC to go take refuge from regular broadcast TV tonight. Tonight - Wednesday - May 9, 2007 Angels @ Mariners (Fox Sports, 7:00 p.m.) Cardinals @ Dodgers (PRIME,... more ›

TV Junkie: Rickles on Letterman - See Him While He's Still Alive; Kimmel Does His Show From A Bus

A Word or 76: CBS lineup tonight is wiped out by the CMAs and unless you are up for a Sir Laurence Olivier marathon on TCM then there's no movies on. I'm getting kind of sick of the parade of authors on late night TV, particularly Comedy Central - who the eff has time to read when there's so much bad TV? Speaking of bad TV, we're down to the final 3 on both... more ›
