Tonight In Rock: Meat Puppets, Operation Aloha, Theresa Andersson, Avi Buffalo

Tonight legendary Phoenix-based alternative rockers the Meat Puppets will be making their triumphant return to the Mint. The pop rock supergroup known as Operation Aloha (LAist Interview), which features members of Maroon 5, Gomez, Phantom Planet, are poised to headline the Troubadour with local buzz band the Parson Red Heads (LAist Review, #2, #3) in tow. And, lastly, Long Beach-based indie quartet Avi Buffalo (LAist Interview) will be gracing the Echo. But we strongly suggest heading over to Largo at the Coronet to catch New Orleans-by-way-of-Norway one-woman band Theresa Andersson (LAist Interview, Review).

Week In Rock: Mogwai, Doves, Extra Golden, Theresa Andersson

This week Scottish post-rock outfit Mogwai will be headlining the Orpheum Theatre with local pysch rockers Dead Meadow in tow. English indie rock band Doves are poised to grace the Wiltern with Massachusetts-based buzz band Wild Light (LAist Review). New Orleans-by-way-of-Norway one-woman band Theresa Andersson (LAist Interview, Review) will be performing at Largo at the Coronet. And, lastly, half-American, half-Kenyan Benga rockers Extra Golden are performing at the Echo. LA-based afrocentric pop act Fool's Gold are slated to kick things off.

Tonight In Rock: Adele, Jon Brion, Franz Ferdinand, Theresa Andersson

Tonight Grammy-nominated English soul singer Adele will be headlining a sold-out show at the Wiltern. Glasgow's own indie rockers Franz Ferdinand are slated to perform at Amoeba Records early on in the evening. LA-based singer-songwriter Eleni Mandell will be gracing the stage at the Hotel Café with the equally buzzworthy "one-woman band" Theresa Andersson (LAist Interview, Review). And, lastly, English rapper Lady Sovereign is set to flow at the Echo. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Largo at the Coronet to catch producer/musician extraordinaire Jon Brion (LAist Review).

Tonight In Rock: Sound Tribe Sector 9, Autolux, Unwritten Law, Mika Miko

Tonight Santa Cruz-by-way-of-Atlanta instrumental outfit Sound Tribe Sector 9 will be concluding a two-night headlining sting at the Wiltern. Poway punk rockers Unwritten Law are performing at the Roxy. On the early side of things, LAist's favorite singer-songwriter Theresa Andersson (LAist Interview) will be taking over Amoeba Records on Sunset at 2:00 PM. And, lastly, the Echo is playing host to local noise-infused rockers Mika Miko (LAist Review) for this month's edition of Hang The DJs. But we strongly recommend heading over to the Henry Fonda Music Box to catch the blisteringly good tunes of Autolux (LAist Review, #2). San Francisco-based psych rockers Wooden Shjips (LAist Review) are slated to kick off the show.

Tonight In Rock: Delta Spirit, Prefuse 73, Jon Brion, Ozomatli

Tonight LA-based pop duo Jupiter Rising are opening for boy band Boyz II Men at Club Nokia in Downtown. Hermosa Beach's own punk rockers Pennywise will be struttin' their machismo around a sold-out crowd with the Vandals at the Hollywood Palladium. Santa Cruz-by-way-of-Atlanta instrumental outfit Sound Tribe Sector 9 are headlining the Wiltern with electronic producer/musician extraordinaire Prefuse 73. San Diegan alt-rockers the Delta Spirit will be performing at the El Rey Theatre with LAist favorites Everest (LAist Review, #2). Latin rockers Ozomatli are headlining the Echoplex with Wait.Think.Fast in tow. And, lastly, Anticon's best emcee Sole is coming through the Knitting Factory. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Hotel Café to watch Theresa Andersson (LAist Interview) tear down the house with her one-woman band.

Tonight In Rock: Theresa Andersson, Mia Doi Todd, Pop Noir, Sara Lov

Tonight LA will be commandeered by female singer-songwriters. New Orleans-based "one-woman band" Theresa Andersson (LAist Interview) is slated to headline the Hotel Café. And Hawaiian-born singer-songwriter Sara Lov will be continuing her Tuesday Night Residency at Spaceland. In other non-female-fronted news, LA-based indie rockers Pop Noir will be kicking things into gear at the Echoplex. And, lastly, Les Blanks and a handful of talented locals, including LAist favorites One Trick Pony, are poised to put on a free show at the Echo. But we strongly suggest checking into the Dakota Lounge to catch the talented and lovely Mia Doi Todd.

                     

Last Thursday, Australian singer Lenka (MySpace) performed the second night of her month-long residency at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, backed by openers Emy Reynolds (MySpace) and New Orleans-based Theresa Andersson (MySpace), and locals Caitlin Crosby (MySpace) and The Ventriloquists (MySpace) completing the evening's lineup.
