Scandal in Fun Town: Legoland Is Full of Sexist Propaganda!

Taking the kids to a theme park is supposed to be an indulgent day of fun flights of fancy, where make believe lets the little ones (and the young at heart) escape for a few hours. But at Legoland something is perhaps afoul in Fun Town and elsewhere in the theme park based on everyone's favorite interlocking plastic bricks. more ›

Totally Not Special Effects: Universal Studios' Quake Attraction Sparks Fire

The earthquake attraction at Universal Studios is where calamity and disaster is part of the show, but it's supposed to be under control and repeated with every tram visit. A small fire that broke out in the attraction late last night, however, was definitely not part of the entertainment. That fire started at around 11:20 p.m. in a sound stage, according to LA Now, and was out within about half an hour. The studio's sprinkler system kept the small blaze tamed. more ›

One fan posed with his special treat, and posted the pic on Knott's Facebook fan page. How was it? "It was awesome!" more ›

They're Not Amused: Six Flags Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Looks like the roller coaster riders at the many theme parks operated by Six Flags, including our Magic Mountain, aren't the only ones experiencing some topsy-turvy twists and turns; "Six Flags is seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, saying it needs to reorganize and shed $1.8 billion of debt," reports the Huffington Post. Despite what reps hail as a "great" 2008, with "25 million visitors" and "record revenues," the $2.4 billion in debt is signaling a load too great to carry. But the company's CEO "says the move won't affect the operation of its 20 theme parks in the U.S., Mexico and Canada." So for now, it's all systems go for thrill junkies boarding Colossus, the Riddler's Revenge, Viper, or the Terminator Salvation ride. more ›

The 0 to 57 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds roller coaster featuring Aerosmith's music has always confused us.
