Walking away from the Mayan Theater on Tuesday night, dazed, my ears still ringing and images of brightly-colored wrestling unitards still flashing before my eyes, I was transported back through time and space to a little strip club in Montana called Shotgun Willie’s, on a hot night last August. I was sitting on the stage, handcuffed to the pole by a naked young blonde woman for what's called a "hostage dance." Out of the......

If there's one show that I'm super jealous that I don't have tickets for, it's the Yeahs at the Mayan - tonight. Who is cooler than Karen O? Seriously? I was lucky enough to see her a few years back at the Greek opening for the White Stripes and they were the epitome of punk rock. Everything they did was about emotion, not details, not math rock, not market penetration. Earlier this summer I......

The Rapture blew everyone away with stage presence that rivals the Rolling Stones. It was all high fives, fist pumps... even crowd surfing and a mosh pit. The Mayan is a cool venue too, with trap doors, secret passages, and tribal decor. It's like watching a concert in the middle of "Indiana Jones and the Temples of Doom". The Rapture's saxophone/cow bell/synth guy had this infectious two-step dance thing he did, while the drummer......

The Rapture's tour hits America! What better city to start with than Los Angeles? And what better website to offer a contest for a free pair of tickets to see The Rapture? Go ahead, ask if we like rhetorical questions! They will be playing two shows at The Mayan (July 25th, and July 26th) and we will be giving away three pairs of tickets.
