It's the first Monday of October, and Pacific Standard Time is now in full effect. NBC will have Christmas episodes of "Community," "30 Rock," and "The Office" (hour-long episode). "Community" will be the standout with a Rankin-Bass flavored stop-motion animated jaunt into absurdity. We've never tried to hide the fact that we're tremendous fans of FX's "The League" (Thursdays @ 10:30pm), the series about a group of former college buddies/misfits who run an extremely competitive, no holds barred fantasy football league. For those who haven't watched the show, the fantasy football stuff is the MacGuffin, simply an environment for some hilarious characters powered by inspired improvisational performances from a cast that includes: Paul Scheer, Mark Duplass, Jon Lajoie, Stephen Rannazzisi, Nick Kroll, and Katie Aselton. more ›

We were happy to jump into a conference call with the producers and creators of FX's "The League", Jackie Marcus Schaffer and Jeff Schaffer last week. This is a great show with great writing and fantastic partially improv-ed performances from the cast which includes the incredible Jon Lajoie whom we had the chance to interview while walking around Hollywood and Vine last year as well as just before one of his live performances in Boston (see the video embeds at the end of the post). more ›

Lakers 124, Heat 118, OT - Unlike the Golden Globe acceptance speeches, nobody was upset when this went a little long. Boasting a budding rivalry that didn't even need Shaq or Pat Riley, the Lakers survived the Heat in a game featuring plenty of lead changes and ties. Dwayne Wade had a game high 35, but it wasn't enough against a Lakers squad that spread the ball around (seven players scored in double digits). The team shot 14-for-25 from beyond the arc with five from Smush Parker and four from Brian Cook. Miami was just 9-for-26 from deep. more ›
