TV Junkie: Interview with Katie Aselton from 'The League'

TV Junkie: Interview with Katie Aselton from 'The League'

We've never tried to hide the fact that we're tremendous fans of FX's "The League" (Thursdays @ 10:30pm), the series about a group of former college buddies/misfits who run an extremely competitive, no holds barred fantasy football league. For those who haven't watched the show, the fantasy football stuff is the MacGuffin, simply an environment for some hilarious characters powered by inspired improvisational performances from a cast that includes: Paul Scheer, Mark Duplass, Jon Lajoie, Stephen Rannazzisi, Nick Kroll, and Katie Aselton. more ›

TV Junkie: Interview with the creators of FX's 'The League'

We were happy to jump into a conference call with the producers and creators of FX's "The League", Jackie Marcus Schaffer and Jeff Schaffer last week. This is a great show with great writing and fantastic partially improv-ed performances from the cast which includes the incredible Jon Lajoie whom we had the chance to interview while walking around Hollywood and Vine last year as well as just before one of his live performances in Boston (see the video embeds at the end of the post). more ›

Seven Questions: Paul Scheer, Actor/Comedian/Host of The Streamy Awards

Prior to his days as one-third of MTV's "Human Giant (LAist Interview)," co-star of FX's "The League," panelist on VH-1's "Best Week Ever" or guest starring on "30 Rock," comedian/actor Paul Scheer was making audiences laugh online as one of the stars of "Shutterbugs," a Channel 101 classic featuring fellow "Human Giant" stars Rob Huebel and Aziz Ansari (Seven Questions, LAist Interview) as cutthroat agents to infant Hollywood stars. Paul, who recently hosted "A Night of 140 Tweets" -- celebrity tweet-a-thon benefiting the people of Haiti, continues to make us all laugh online with his numerous Funny or Die.com videos and his must-follow Twitter updates. more ›

Saturday is Green Day

Saturday is Green Day

There are no less than nine green events tomorrow. Surely, the Los Angeles area is getting a lot more hip about being green. And hopefully, when this fad is over, it will be a staple of our lives, embedded into our quotidian conscious. The big event tomorrow is the Opportunity Green Conference at UCLA. The pricey, but well talked about event in green circles, is bringing together sustainable businesses in hopes of creating a community... more ›

LAst Night's Action: Angels Look Up, Dodgers Fall Fast

LAst Night's Action: Angels Look Up, Dodgers Fall Fast

Angels 4, A's 3 - The NorCal-SoCal rivalry is heating up in the junior circuit. Oakland and LAnaheim split the four game series, but not without a some players getting beaned (or close to it). In the final game, the Angels got three of their RBIs from Garret Anderson, who is not one of the three Halos to get hit this year. Vladamir Guerrero almost became the fourth victim on Sunday on a pitch that... more ›

LAst Night's Action: "I'd Kick David Beckham's Ass"

LAst Night's Action: "I'd Kick David Beckham's Ass"

Lakers 124, Heat 118, OT - Unlike the Golden Globe acceptance speeches, nobody was upset when this went a little long. Boasting a budding rivalry that didn't even need Shaq or Pat Riley, the Lakers survived the Heat in a game featuring plenty of lead changes and ties. Dwayne Wade had a game high 35, but it wasn't enough against a Lakers squad that spread the ball around (seven players scored in double digits). The team shot 14-for-25 from beyond the arc with five from Smush Parker and four from Brian Cook. Miami was just 9-for-26 from deep. more ›
